I had an excellent stay at Ming Garden Hotel & Residences for my recent business trip. The hotel hits the mark on all fronts—the location is strategic for getting around, and the service was incredibly efficient and welcoming. My room was spotless and very comfortable for working. Highly recommended for business travellers looking for a hassle-free experience.

The hotel staff were all polite and enthusiastic. I didn't encounter any issues with discrimination against Chinese guests, no hot water at night, and no deposit was required. You can tell the hotel is a bit old, but it's well-maintained, especially the large private beach where you can snorkel, swim, or leisurely watch the sunset without having to deal with crowds elsewhere. That's a huge plus! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 On the second night, I saw a dying cockroach in the bathroom (its antennae wiggled for a long time). Considering it's a tropical region, it's understandable, and the fact that it was dying suggests the hotel uses pest control. However, housekeeping randomly took guests' personal belongings when cleaning the room. Two plastic bags with items in them were on the TV cabinet, and they were gone when I returned at night. This is the first time I've encountered such a situation in my 10+ years of travel. Although the items weren't valuable, their absence was very inconvenient. Housekeeping shouldn't subjectively assume guests' items are trash and take them away. That was a bit frustrating. Additionally, service efficiency was very low. One evening, I went to the front desk to ask staff to send some bottled water to the room. The front desk staff were very friendly and enthusiastically agreed, but I waited over two hours and nothing arrived. The in-room service phone was either busy or completely silent (maybe just a prop?), so I had no choice but to go down to the lobby again to get water. We checked in around 12 PM, but were told we couldn't get into the room until 3 PM (they informed us politely). The next day, I turned on the 'make up room' light before going out for lunch, but when we returned to the room around 2 PM, it still hadn't been cleaned. In short, everything was slow; it felt like the hotel was understaffed and overwhelmed.

Thank you for providing an all-in-one environment for busy professionals like me. A place where I can work, meeting old friends, and at the same time allow my 3 boys to enjoy themselves safely. The availability of both a swimming pool and a small beach, with lifeguards on duty, gave me peace of mind throughout the day. the room was also clean and convinient for us also to enjoy beautiful morning sunrise. I was able to continue my work comfortably, spending time reading and writing on my laptop by the pool, surrounded by beautiful seaside scenery while watching my son playing. The experience was further enhanced by the availability of good food at the restaurant despite busy with customer, waitress e.g Ms Shamira and all were very helpful. Added with relaxing drinks in the evening while listening to live band performances, and quiet moments of healing by the beach, resting on the sofa with the sound of the sea. The staff were friendly and helpful, e.g Mr Alex and the team, who made our stay even more pleasant. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to come again.

The place is so cozy and stocked with amenities. They have a Dyson hair dryer, portable chargers and many more! We got upgraded to a balcony room and the sunlight was really nice. The bed was super comfy and huge bonus, they offer laundry service with same day return. We just came back from the Mount Kinabalu hike and were exhausted. The laundry service was much needed. Also, their customer service is impeccable. There’s literally a WhatsApp number you can message for stuff and they reply so quick I barely have time to think.

I love Le Méridien beds, and this stay reminded me why. The bed was spacious, the pillows were generously sized, and the sleep was genuinely delicious. From my experience, Le Méridien consistently delivers some of the best bedding, no matter which city I stay in. I usually book via the Marriott Bonvoy app, but this time I found a better rate on Trip.com. The location is excellent. It sits right in front of the Filipino Market and is just a short walk to seafood alfresco dining and durian stalls. At night, the surrounding roads come alive with makeshift food stalls and small vendors selling all kinds of local items, giving the area a very local, energetic feel. A comfortable stay with great sleep and a lively neighbourhood. The reception at checkin was also efficient and welcoming. Will stay here again.

Let's start with the positives: The hotel is quite large, sharing its grounds with a golf club. It offers a comprehensive range of facilities, with the main highlight being its incredibly long coastline. The gardens are full of lizards, giving it a very natural and untouched feel. The service attitude is excellent, and the hotel's pool is also quite nice. Now for the drawbacks: The hotel's location is far from the city center, about a 50-minute drive. If you're looking for a late-night snack or want to explore after dark, forget about it; the surroundings are completely dark. While the coastline is long, there can be some washed-up trash. Also, there are tiny sand balls everywhere from sand crabs rolling them, which might trigger trypophobia for some. The hotel has three or four restaurants with various cuisines; I found the Chinese food to be the best, but it's super expensive, with most dishes (like a bowl of fried noodles) costing over 60. Room service is only available after 10 PM and is very slow, typically taking 50 minutes to an hour. I stayed on the 4th floor; my room had a balcony, but it never saw the sun. Although the room faced the ocean, it felt a bit damp.

“Clean, Quiet, and Comfortable” I stayed here for one night and had a very pleasant experience. My room was clean and I was happy to have a room with a pool view. The hotel was quiet, which allowed for a good night's rest. Perfect for a short stopover.

An absolutely fantastic experience, you simply *must* book a sea-view room! Not only do you get an unbeatable ocean vista, but stunning views are everywhere you look. 👍 I forgot my slippers 🩴, so the thoughtful provision of slippers 🩴 was excellent and much appreciated. The most heartwarming touch: after check-out, they offer a temporary lounge where you can shower, take a bath 🛀, and even use a sauna, complete with hair dryers.

The entire hotel feels very new and modern, which is great! 👍 I'd even say it rivals the Park Hyatt. The room size is standard, but the bathroom has excellent hot water supply, and there's a balcony facing east, perfect for catching the sunrise 🌅. Just make sure to close the balcony door tightly, or the air conditioning won't blow cold air 😞. The pool is on the sixth floor, and you need to provide your room number every time you go. The hotel breakfast is very good; I particularly recommend their chicken congee 🥣 – it's delicious, I had two bowls every day 😋. The cakes 🍰 look nice, but they're a bit sweet. There's also a SPA at this hotel, but it doesn't seem to be affiliated with the hotel; I suspect it's privately run. You need to book a day in advance, and they only accept cash, WeChat Pay, or Alipay transfers – credit cards aren't an option. A 60-minute foot massage for two costs over 600 RMB 💰. Unlike in China, there's no shoulder and neck massage; you just wash your feet, move to another room, and the massage begins. Afterwards, they provide a plate of prawn crackers and two cups of ginger tea. I found it pretty average, and the price felt a bit steep.

AAnonymous UserJust got back home yesterday, and I'm determined to write a thorough review for this hotel. My kids also encouraged me to review it, because it truly deserves it. We booked four ocean villas for two nights, and I initially thought our chances of encountering issues would be higher with such a large booking. But we didn't run into any problems at all! In fact, I even regretted not booking more nights, mainly because I was put off by too many negative reviews on Ctrip. 1. **Service:** If you're comfortable communicating in English, the hotel service is absolutely fantastic. Most of the staff speak excellent English and were diligent in explaining activities, facilities, schedules, and programs. They showed us where everything was in the room and proactively informed us about the cost if we broke any of the toiletries bottles. The higher cost for broken bottles is because the contents are genuinely expensive – they're pure plant essential oil toiletries. As someone who regularly uses essential oils, I know they shouldn't be stored in plastic. Plus, these toiletries left our hair and skin feeling moisturized, not dry. I found them to be very effective. If you're worried about breaking them, just place them on the floor. 2. **Seawater:** The seawater is quite clear. While it's not a 'jelly blue,' the clarity is definitely good. We did experience a heavy downpour one day, and the water became a bit murky the next, but it was still perfectly acceptable. The photo of the large sea turtle looks a bit blurry because it was taken with a waterproof phone case, but the water itself was actually very clear. That was taken from under our water villa. The manta ray was photographed near the stairs of our water villa room. 3. **No Outside Food Policy:** They don't allow outside food in the rooms because it attracts ants and monkeys. The front desk has a dedicated area for storing snacks. We didn't bring any snacks into our room and always closed the door promptly, so we didn't have any bugs or insects. A crucial point: absolutely do not feed the monkeys! 4. **Meals:** We had all our meals at the hotel restaurant, and the food was truly delicious. A main meal costs around 90+ MYR per person (about 160 CNY). We felt the food was excellent, with a good variety of dishes and drinks beyond just the main courses. The kids' portions were a bit small; our four children ordered 7 kids' meals, and eventually, we just ordered them regular adult meals instead. 5. **Hot Water:** Regarding previous reviews mentioning no hot water, one of our rooms indeed had this issue. We called the front desk, and it turned out there's a 'water heater' button on the wall. Hot water was available within 15 minutes. So, don't hesitate to ask! Don't be shy; good service often requires you to speak up. 6. **Free Rentals:** Paddleboards, small boats, fins, and masks are all available for free rental. 7. **Marine Life:** In the ocean, we spotted baby sharks, baby manta rays, triggerfish, archerfish (the ones that shoot water), porcupinefish, and even a large sea turtle (which is rare, but we got lucky!). 8. **Welcome/Farewell:** We received a welcome ceremony and a welcome drink upon arrival. Upon departure, we sometimes had the whole staff waving goodbye to us. 9. **Guest Demographics:** There were a lot of European and American guests at the hotel, some Koreans, but not many Chinese guests. I wonder if this is due to the excessive negative reviews on Ctrip. 10. **Cleanliness:** The hygiene was excellent, and the rooms were very clean. Each room came with life vests, so you could go snorkeling anytime. That pretty much covers it. I believe if your English communication is good, feel free to chat with the front desk and restaurant staff; they are very engaging. At 8 AM, the hotel organizes a free jungle trek. It was a bit tiring, and we didn't see much – just hiking uphill. For reference, my experience this trip, and with these four rooms, was genuinely excellent. Having been to places like the Maldives, Bali, and Koh Lipe... I think this hotel offers great value for money, and I would definitely come back. Hotels at this price point on Koh Lipe before were significantly worse.

XXiaolanmaosarahThe hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

MMaishushuThe service attitude is absolutely top-notch, truly reflecting its premium price. We had a small hiccup at check-in; initially, we weren't given a room with a bathtub as requested, and the hotel was reluctant to change it. Thankfully, Trip.com intervened and helped us get the room changed. A big shout-out to Trip.com! 👍 The environment is absolutely stunning. I highly recommend booking a sea-view room; the view is simply incredible. It's a shame it rained heavily for two consecutive days, so we missed out on the beautiful sunset, which was a bit disappointing. The coastline is long, and the sand is incredibly soft and fine, perfect for babies to walk on without any issues. Food options in the surrounding area are quite limited, and the local restaurants weren't very good. The hotel's dining options are a bit pricey, and the menu became repetitive after a while, making meals a bit of a hassle. Aside from that, the quality from this brand is consistently excellent, as always. It's definitely worth it!

MMuhammad Damian SanI had an absolutely unforgettable experience at Sutera @ Mantanani Island. From the moment I arrived, I was completely mesmerized by the island’s beauty the crystal clear turquoise waters, soft pearly sand, and breathtaking views felt like something out of a dream. Every moment spent there was pure bliss. What truly made the experience even more special was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their genuine smiles and welcoming hospitality made me feel right at home and added so much heart to the trip. Whether relaxing by the beach or simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere, everything about Mantanani felt magical. Overall, it was a perfect escape, and I truly enjoyed every second of my stay. Sutera @ Mantanani Island is a hidden gem, and without a doubt, I will be returning again in the future.

KKara TaiThe resort is very easy to get to from Kota Kinabalu airport. Using the Grab app makes it convenient to call a car to take you to the Jesselton Point to catch the boat to the resort. The resort is quite beautiful and clean. Reading other reviews, I wasn’t quite sure why several had complaints about the price and food. The food was all excellent - fresh and reasonably priced. We ate at both specialty restaurants as well - Fisherman’s Cove and Omakase - and both were excellent. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a lot of variety to choose from and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we loved the sea view from our terrace. The bathroom was well-equipped and spacious. The pool was very clean and there were plenty of sun chairs to choose from. The gift shop had many cute items. The spa is beautiful and the massage was amazing! What needs improvement - the bathtub in our villa was a bit dirty with some dead bugs. It’s fantastic that they offer a complimentary boat shuttle to the other bay near the marine center but it’s extremely littered with plastic. I asked the staff for a garbage bag and ended up collecting about 5 kg worth of garbage from the beach and sea. This should be the government policy or authorities responsibility - they need to clean it up and charge fines for littering. Overall, we loved this resort and wanted to stay longer. We definitely recommend staying here. I would like to specifically mention Aileen, Rozana, Nathaniel and Shadar for making our stay memorable and comfortable.
