Every time I I have visited El Calafate 3 times and stayed 3 times in this place, a great location near the shopping street and near the lake (walking distance) a great breakfast served, a money exchange with good rates, a big room to hang out, small but good dorms, good hot showers, well worth its money.

Two bathrooms for each gender. Under the mountains for great views. My luggage didn’t get on the plane somehow but the receptionists at the hostel called many times so I got it the next day from rio to el Cheltan. Food was very good at the 24 hour restaurant and people who stay get a discount.

A great value for money! We loved this place, it was cosy and the staff was super friendly! We saw the pink flamingos next to the hotel thanks to their recommendation! Very convenient - a 10-minute walk from the city centre! We would highly recommend! They also propose packed lunches!

The hotel is very comfortable. We stay in a room of 3 people, extremely wide and with view to the mountains. Very good bathroom, comfortable bed. Very tasty breakfast. We find the restaurant the best of the trip and with good prices. The staff are extremely efficient and efficient.Special mention to Mariano and Valentina. The hotel does not have lifts and TV in the room. We would be there again next time.

This is an average place. It’s not bad but not good either. The Wi-Fi was worthless, took us an hour to book a stay at our next destination because it kept dropping us or stalling. Others at the hotel indicated the same experience. Security is very lacking here. The management requires that you leave the key if you are leaving the building. However, the process of retrieving or leaving your key is simply to do it yourself with no staff verifying that the correct key is taken. Cleanliness at breakfast is also lacking. The staff wear latex gloves. But these are only to protect their hands, not your food. I say this because the staff wear the gloves while they prepare food, handle luggage, or pet the neighborhood cat or dog that comes to visit - all with the same gloves. Besides these complaints, the rooms are comfortable and the staff are helpful and nice. I preferred other places in town but in a pinch, this place is workable.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Nice room with balcony. The staff was extremely accommodating. I am a psychotherapist and needed a private space at one point during my stay to have a session with a client who was in crisis. They were able to provide me that space and were quite sympathetic. It was easily walkable to town each day, and we had no problem arranging a tour to take us to the glacier. For an extra charge, the hotel was able to provide us a very nice lunch for the time that we were at the glacier. We dined in the restaurant for dinner two of the nights, and both experiences were wonderful. The food was top-notch for dinner, and the cocktails were also superb! The breakfast each morning, which I believe was included, was absolutely delicious! There were a lot of healthy options provided. I would also like to highly recommend the medical facility that was quite close to the hotel, TMSALUD. I had an issue with my knee and got in quickly to have a consult with Dr. Gimenez, who was INCREDIBLE! Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel not only for the accommodations, but for location to all the attractions nearby.

They say this is a 5 star hotel. I would give it a solid 3 stars (I don't mean that in a bad way -- just know what you're getting into). Service was generally pretty poor. They seem very short staffed and were not helpful when we asked repeatedly about doing a ”spa tour” that was advertised, but no one knew what we were talking about. They were not super helpful when we had questions. At one point we asked for extra pillows, and they never came. The room is also quite outdated (again, that's fine as long as you know what you're getting into). For the money, I would stay elsewhere. Luckily, we also booked rooms at Los Ponchos. I will write a different review, but I would stay at Los Ponchos if you're looking for a nicer hotel with better service (and closer to town). The service there was OUTSTANDING. No, it doesn't have a spa, but I would still pick Los Ponchos over Imago.

Excellent location, very close to the main avenue where all the restaurants, shops, coffees, bars are located. Staff was very very friendly and helpful. In my opinion the breakfast could offer more fruits, honey and eggs. And the checkout time could be later…. 10:00AM is too early for a checkout.

The location is good, not far from the supermarket. The staff are very warm and humorous, the facilities are relatively outdated, the hot water in the bath is not hot enough, and the others are fine. The kitchen utensils are basically complete.

The location is very nice. It is just a few squares from the center, but the views all worth. Although to reach the center walking down is heavy, the wearing is even more. But considering you down once a day there is no problem. The hotel is very friendly and comfortable. We stayed several hours in the chairs waiting for the transport to return and super comfortable What is all to mention but it's all the calafate, is that hotels let you check in at 14 and the flight arrives at 7am. All these hours are Tremenda. We used to take advantage and we went on the same day of excursion on the ice. But bear in mind. Because the return is to sleep

The Design Suite Hotel is exactly what it is called. It is a very design and very beautiful hotel. It should be the best view hotel in Calafate to see the Lake of Argentina. Each room has a whole window overlooking the lake. While slowly admiring the beautiful lake view, snow peaks, blue sky and white clouds. The restaurant is very beautiful, the breakfast is rich, the taste is good, the service is very warm, and the English is very good. It is very intimate that you can order a lunch set on the glacier hike, and there are oversized sandwiches, apples, water, chocolate pie, and energy bars, which are very worthwhile. Walk along the lake to the town center in about half an hour, and also pass through the wetland park. There are buses to and from the airport to pick up and drop off, following the bus is equivalent to a day trip to the town! All in all, very good value for money.

A modest aging property located in the small town of Califate that provides a convenient base for exploring the nearby lake and natural wonders. It looks quite stately from the lobby and exterior but the rooms and especially the bathrooms are long over due for an upgrade. We stayed for two nights at the end of January as part of a tour to visit glaciers and national parks. We stayed in a king room on the 2nd floor. While perfectly clean and comfortable it was definitely a step down from other hotels on this trip-comparable to a mid-scale spot in the US. Like other area hotels in Patagonia, there is no Ac due to the normally cool climate and heat is provide via antiquated radiators. Luckily there was a large sliding window to open but without any cross ventilation or fan to move air, the room felt stuffy. The small bathroom was at least 20 years old with outdated fixtures like the tub/shower combo and a tiny single sink with antiquated faucet and sputtering water pressure. Bath amenities were also very basic. Breakfast was included and while there were many selections, items were largely packaged and canned foods set out like canned pears, cold cuts, and processed meats and cheese. As I said, despite the woeful lack of creature comforts, as a place to crash for a couple of nights it was perfectly adequate.

Chalten Suites in the centre of El Chalten is more of an upmarket hotel more for people seeking comfort than just a place to throw a sleeping bag onto the floor. The rooms are quaint and spacious enough and the bathroom is fine. Water pressure in the shower is satisfactory. The bed is comfortable and the heating works as it should in such a cold place. The included breakfasts were excellent, especially to charge your body up for a long hike. The staff are extremely helpful and do go out of their way to try to ensure your stay goes well. They will organise shuttles to walks and offer advice for those unfamiliar with the local attractions. When the lovely receptionist mentions a shorter walk to Laguna Capri, ignore that and go with the longer walk option (see review on Chalten walks). There are only a few negatives for the hotel. Top of the list is the poor Wi-Fi, which is annoyingly unreliable. However, that could be a location problem for the whole town. That said, in all my weeks of travel throughout South America, this is the only place with bad Wi-Fi. Next is the cheap toilet paper, a silly thing really as it is so unnecessary. Especially when you have to use twice as much for the same job. Lastly, the restaurant in the hotel is limited. It has a nice ambience and good views but the menu is limited and lacking in national dishes. I paid $US200 per night and stayed 3 nights. For that fee, one would expect better internet. Overall, there aren’t many flash hotels in El Chalten and Chalten Suites does provide a necessary service for tourists rather than adventurers. Hotel with good facilities, comfortable beds, large room and spacious bathroom as well as good heating and hot water. On the downside, there is only Wi-Fi in the breakfast and reception area and, taking into account that there is hardly any coverage in the whole town, it is very inconvenient not to be able to connect in the room and having to do it alone from there. I would also like to point out that, except for the girl who is at reception in the afternoon, who is lovely, the rest were quite rude. For the rest, everything was perfect.

We are incredibly happy with our 5nights stay at Poincenot! I had forgotten that we booked a twin bedroom so at check in, I was asking if they have a room with double beds instead, without really hoping for too much. The lady at reception actually went above and beyond, walked up and down & checked a few rooms for us, although in the end we needed to take the twin room which was fine. Breakfast was great everyday, not too much option but can get your morning going for sure. What I loved most was the housekeeping! They turned our bed down daily, kept our room nice and clean which was a joy to come back to after a long day hike. We put the twin beds together and the next day when we returned, they made it a double bed by adding some extra mattress, what a star! I would highly recommend this place - though it’s a bit of a walk from the bus station but you will be surrounded by restaurants and shops anyway.
