The room was nice, clean and had all the basics. It also had a purified water faucet. The staff was very helpful. For example they allowed me to store some food in the kitchen fridge and warmed it up for me the next day. The Inn offered me a free transfert from the train station and I was welcomed. The breakfast was Chinese and plentiful. The facilities could be improved, as the kitchen and breakfast place are tiny within a store. The rooms are behind in an old house, which could benefit from some tidying up and refreshing . Overall, I was happy to stay there and would recommend it to people travelling on a small budget. There was no noise at night. The inn was located well.

Great hotel with excellent, helpful, informative, English-speaking staff. Killer location in a quiet laneway just around the corner from all the action of the main food/shopping streets at the heart of the Ancient City. And the hotel is a beautiful space, very traditional and authentic. Hotel organised drivers for me to take me places outside Pingyao.

[Experience staying at a hotel in Pingyao Ancient City] Traveling through the thousand-year-old blue bricks and black tiles, you will encounter this Zen courtyard on the east side of the county government office. When you push open the door, you can see the ancient residence of Shanxi merchants with winding paths, and the fragrance of time flowing between the carved beams and painted buildings. The new Chinese style design in the guest rooms is perfectly integrated with the architectural texture of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and outside the original wooden carved window lattices is the skyline outlined by green tiles. When I showered, I was delighted to find that even conditioner was provided. The copper key plate handed over by the shopkeeper jingled, as if opening a box of history. Strolling back from the brightly lit South Street at night, you can see the warm light of lanterns in the inn in three minutes. Living in such an ancient city is truly a poetic stopover across time and space.

FamilyMart voted unanimously as the best accommodation for this trip to Shanxi, with services that surpass those of first-tier international brands such as Marriott😆😆 Service:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The customer service butler added WeChat the day before check-in, carefully asked us about our estimated arrival time and travel methods, and provided a lot of free consultation along the way😂😂 We encountered congestion on the highway and almost missed the scheduled performance in the evening. The lady was waiting on the roadside early in the morning, led us to the parking lot🅿️, and led us to the theater🎭~ It was a smooth ride~~ She also helped us book a popular restaurant for dinner, saving us the time of queuing! So thoughtful!! Accommodation: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Ancient style of ancient city decoration, a different world when entering the courtyard, the room is very spacious and clean ~ The hardware is indeed complete, and small snacks and fruits are thoughtfully prepared ~ The breakfast in the morning is also very exquisite, and there are vegetables, steamed snacks, and cold dishes in the food box for each person ~ Before leaving, we were given New Year souvenirs, including Shanxi old vinegar 😍😍 and Pingyao beef cubes, so thoughtful! ! It’s a pity that the time is limited this time. If I have the opportunity to come again next time, I must stay for a few more days! !

I have to say this is the best accomodation in my entire Shanxi trip in which i stayed in 5 facilities. I truly appreciate the service provided, i got what i needed in a timely manner. As a solo traveller in a foreign country (i can speak simple mandarin, but cannot read chinese), i was glad that the proprieter could pick me up from Pingyaoguzhen station. Although i initiated the request, from then on, about 5 minutes before the train arrived Pingyao, he was proactive to send me a voice message on wechat when he arrived at the station and shared a photo to identify himself. The journey was 15 minutes in the car, followed by a tuk tuk as cars are not allowed to enter the ancient city during the day. The point of entry to the facility is via the north gate, it is a 3 minutes walk to Ma family mansion and about 10 minutes walk to the centre of the ancient city where most of the good restaurants are located. I booked a traditional chinese design room on the ground floor with the dragon-phoenix bed and another day bed. I did not ask, but i guess the facility is an old house that was built more than 100 years ago, there is a sign at the external wall of the homestay that indicate it is a protected building. As it was an old house, i was surprised that the room was clean, just the bathroom was slightly deteriorated (there is no separation of wet vs dry). The blanket in traditional dragon & phoenix design and traditional pillows with seed-like fillings were clean and odourless, i was so glad. Although the mattress was quite thin, it was not hard, i was glad. The proprieter gave me a map and explained the layout of the old city how to get around, where to eat, and help arranged shared car to Qiao family mansion. Upon checking out, i was given a bottle of locally brewed vinegar. The proprieter was not around when i left, he sent me voice message to arrange transport for my trip to the train station. I actually felt sorry when i told him that i booked another place in the more happening area of the ancient city (south gate) after checking out from his place. There are many buggy cars operating in the ancient city, charging ¥10/trip, you can tell the driver your desired destination and he/she will drop you at the door step or the closest drop off point if that area is not accesible.

We stayed at the Elsewhere North Gate hotel for 1 night during our visit to China from Liverpool, England. Easy to find and walk to from the North Gate entrance of Pingyao. We were able to check in early, and our hosts were very helpful in making us feel welcome and provided advice and recommendations on where to eat and go during our stay. We did the castle walls, my tip is to take some water. The room was modern and clean with plenty of space. Nice hot shower and plenty of free accessories too, which was helpful eg toothbrush and paste, snacks and coffee. The location is about 2 minutes from the main street in Pingyao too. Thanks for our stay.

No words to describe the awesome and wonderful people from Renyi Inn. We arrived a bit too early and they checked us in directly, no questions asked. They brought us cherry tomatoes and oranges as snacks. They even offered us a free upgrade to a bigger unused room, however we were outside most of out trip and declined. But their hospitality goes beyond limits. Hands down one of the nicest inn I ever been too. And they have 2 lovely pet 🦚 peacocks, how awesome is that. Location is in Ancient town, close to everything, and the view is lovely

The mansion is antique and very beautiful. It is one of the best buildings in the ancient city, even as good as the scenic spots. As soon as you enter the door, you will feel the strong Chinese atmosphere. The room is clean and tidy, and it is also very simple and elegant👍🏻 The boss is super nice! Very handsome and nice! You can book cars to other nearby attractions and tickets to See Pingyao from the boss. The boss will help us with the strategy. Very nice and responsible! When we left, because the high-speed rail time was late, the boss also left his lounge for us to rest. It was really nice👍🏻 There is a pick-up service at the north gate of the ancient city. It is very convenient. When we left, the boss also gave us a bottle of Shanxi vinegar! Let us feel the enthusiasm and generosity of northerners! I directly recommend three links! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I loved this hotel and would choose it again if I return to Pingyao. The room was very, very cosy and comfortable with a very nice bed. The bathroom was also great and everything smelt good and felt very clean. The host was kind and offered to help us with everything and also gave us unlimited drinking water. They were very, very welcoming even though we speak no mandarin! The location is perfect- near everything you want as a tourist, e.g. restaurants and attractions but it was very quiet at night. It was handy to have somewhere to dry our laundry in the courtyard as well. I would love to stay here again!

After repeated considerations, I decided to stay at Qi Mansion during my trip to Pingyao. When we arrived at the Lower East Gate of the ancient city, we saw a red car waiting for us. The car snaked in the alley and then stopped steadily at the door of the inn. The three-courtyard house made the Shanxi folk houses concrete, which was so satisfying. We lived in a big kang room, with a couch at the door. The cabinets, doors, and windows were antique. Welcome fruits and snacks were placed in a red basket, and there was a welcome letter, which was quite a legacy of Shanxi merchants. The inn has a unique geographical location, which is only a five-minute walk from South Street, making it easy for me to visit the ancient city four times. It is worth recommending.
