Disappointing stay – unfortunately, not good service
My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for the first time and were unfortunately very disappointed with the service overall. We encountered problems right from check-in: We had to wait a long time for the manager because the receptionist was apparently overwhelmed. Ultimately, I had to book the room online myself because it didn't work on-site – but afterward, it worked.
Another negative point was that we were only informed after booking that, as Marriott members, we couldn't collect points because we hadn't booked through the correct channel. This information would have been very helpful in advance.
In the room, we tried to order a bathrobe – but it wasn't delivered. I had to go to the reception myself, but it wasn't ready there either. So we gave up.
When we ordered food through an external provider, the forks were unfortunately missing. We thought the hotel could help us out with two simple forks – but here, too, we had to pick them up ourselves from the reception. Alternatively, we would have been charged 9 francs (!) to have them delivered to our room.
Overall, the stay was unfortunately not what we expected from a hotel of this category. The service was not very customer-oriented and inflexible. It's a shame – we had hoped for more.
