Yuanyang Yunshang Homestay

I spent 2 nights there. Very peaceful and quiet. Fantastic views of sunrise on the rice fields within a short walking distance. The view from my room was amazing. The facilities are more than adequate.The hospitality and generosity of the owner is outstanding. One of the highlights of the stay was going to the local market. Highly recommended to get away from crowds and experience local hospitality and culture.

We had such a wonderful stay in this guesthouse! The rooms are big, clean and with a big bathroom with hot water. The location is wonderful, all the ancient tree rooms having a nive view over the rice fields. The place is very quiet and peaceful at night, and very close to a nice spot that the owner will show you to see the sunset. You have a few options around to eat at any time of the day. The family who runs the place is very nice and helpful to organise your days in the area or the next step of your journey in China. This place is definitely worth a stop and will add something more to your stay in this wonderful area.

Wonderful homestay in an excellent location. Food is fantastic (they have real coffee too!), the family who runs the place very nice. The location is at the end of the town overlooking some of the terraces. We had the room with the view over the terraces, which was great with the big window. Only drawback was that the sun hits really hard in the morning through the glass, so better to be up early before the sun comes up over the hills. If you are looking for an unique stay and experience "Hani" culture, I would highly recommend staying with the family. When I arrived, the host invited me for a hike through the ricefields to see the sunset, and afterwards I joined the family for a traditional dinner with local dishes, straight from their own garden. Especially as a solo traveller, I felt at home instantly and they will do everything to make your stay comfortable. The food is delicious, the room was spotless, and the host can recommend great places for hiking. Don't forget their delicious coffee and tea! One minor thing, when you go back to Kunming by bus, just make sure that the host reserves the bus ticket. I unexpectely had to change buses in Yuangyang because it was full. I would definitely come back, and their homestay is one of my highlights in China. Thank you again for the memorable stay and for welcoming me with open arms. See you next time!
