Middlethorpe Hall- just outside York is a William-and-Mary country house- built in 1699 of mellow red bricks with limestone dressing. The Hall has been elegantly decorated in the manner of the 18thC and furnished with antiques and fine paintings- so that its look and ambiance is that of a well-kept- well-furnished private manor house rather than a 29-bedroomed hotel.

The hotel is in an old building with a traditional garden. The garden is beautiful and has the flavor of old times. The restaurant is very ceremonial, the service is thoughtful, and parking is free. It is recommended.

This was a treat from me to myself. I had a fabulous time at Middlethorpe Hall. From the spa to the dinner to the breakfast and treatment the next morning. It was a dream. The garden is also very pleasant to walk around and every single staff member I crossed paths with made sure I felt welcome. I highly recommend!

Middlethorpe Hall is a beautiful hotel with some unfortunate shortcomings. The location is very nice and peaceful, about a 50-minute walk or short taxi ride from the centre of York. The grounds are lovely and the spa is great for a quick swim, sauna and jacuzzi. The breakfast was also excellent. The junior suite we had was of high quality but the bathroom was very disappointing. It was definitely the smallest bathroom I’ve had in many years and certainly not what you would expect at this price level. The bathroom door didn’t close properly and the toilet seat wouldn’t stand up. The room also lacked a refrigerator which was a bit disappointing. Personally, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again or recommend it to my friends.

Il nostro soggiorno a Middelthorpe Hall è stata l’ultima tappa del nostro viaggio di nozze e sicuramente la migliore. La struttura è un palazzo storico abilmente conservato, il parco tutto attorno è lussureggiante e consente di fare splendide passeggiate, aperitivi e cene in una location unica. Lo staff è disponibile ad accogliere qualsiasi richiesta e ad offrire supporto per qualsiasi problema. Un plauso particolare al direttore Chatard per la cortesia e la continua disponibilità. Very good experience. This hotel provides high end quality. The Spa is good to wile away two or three hours. The restaurant provides high end food and service. Rooms are comfortable and well appoint. It is a good hotel for a luxury and romantic weekend.
