Impossible Motel

We received a gift voucher for a night's stay in the Stella Solarium (Room 21) with fizz and chocolates and private jacuzzi and because of this we didn't review the Impossible Motel first which we would always otherwise do. We only read the reviews on the morning we left and could certainly identify with other people's experiences - we did find some of them quite amusing to read though by this stage. We too could hear the conversation from next door and from the woman's constant moaning she was clearly enjoying their copulating - it was at least very early evening and didn't go on for ages but we were a little concerned about what noise we might hear from them next door later. We went to bed pretty early and didn't hear them come back in the end but I realised they were because I could hear snoring. Then around 1am the noise outside in Blake Street started. The hotel is next to a McDonald's which is open 24 hours (really?) and so the kids go there to get food but there were loads of groups of them sitting all the way down the street - it was basically a street party and a hell of a racket which went on until around 5am or so. We'd put earplugs in way before this having seen these kids were in no hurry to go home so managed a little sleep. I only properly got back to sleep around 6am after the bin lorries had done their rounds and the seagulls had stopped keening. The toilet is ridiculously poky and a small wash basin sits on top of the cistern (really?) and is next to useless - we just used it to brush our teeth. We had a shower to wash though there was a pretty unpleasant swampy smell coming from that. The walls are all black and it's dark and dingy and so because I prefer light and airy it's just not my thing. Having said all that the staff were nice and we enjoyed jumping in the jacuzzi on the rooftop on arrival with our fizz and choccies even though it rained. We were relieved we were only staying for one night and that we didn't pay for the room as I believe it would have been around £450. If I'd been paying that amount I would have been extremely unhappy (that's putting it mildly); just so relieved it was a gift . Not a chance in hell we'll stay here again.

Started with a good experience of being greeted and our bags taken as the room wasn’t ready but we were early. Reception phoned to say room was ready, when we turned up we was shown the room and his to use the jacuzzi. The room was small, bathroom tidy perhaps the room is due a bit of maintenance and dusting best the room was very dark! The jacuzzi and yard were great and dressing gowns provided came in handy as did small bottles of prosecco and chocolates. We won this break as a prize with a virgin token it cannot be used Friday, Saturday or bank holidays. No breakfast included but can be taken at 11:00 when the restaurant opens for extra charge note McDonalds is next door and opens early.

The impossible hosted our wedding, I could not have imagined it go any better then it did!!!! Boy do they know how to throw a party!!!! There is reviews here saying music goes quiet after 11pm and that the staff ask you for the bill at the end of the night- this is completely not my experience at all!!! The staff bent over backwards, and we had a lot of moving parts (a band, Spotify playlist after, shot toasts, different drinks requests for every guest for the meal). They were so flexible with when we came in/picked stuff up, and so many of my guests commented on how great the venue And the staff were!!! Huge shout out to Zara, she was brilliant!!! Even bigger shout out to Jack- let me come in as many times as I wanted during my bridezilla period! And kept checking on me in the process! Also shout out to Neil- brill manager. You would be crazy not to pick this place and they have incredible deals. Feeling extremely happy we went with this place over an over priced, stuffy venue, as this place was STUNNING

Excellent hotel with quirky decor in the heart of the city, check in was smooth , staff were friendly , rooms were clean and spacious . En-suite was a little small but it didn’t bother us. The location is very central and the building is old so there is some quirks with sound proofing but again didn’t affect our stay. Will definitely stay here again.

Had one night stay in this hotel in the superb double. Straight away stepping inside the hotel we thought wow. The room was great ( little small but we didn't go there to run around so was perfectly fine for us ) one of the very few hotels we have stayed at where the Aircon actually works. The room was quiet we had the street right outside and we heard absolutely nothing due to there been an extra panel of glass I presume to sound proof. The bed itself was amazingly comfortable and the bedding was so nice , heavy but cool at the same time, please tell us where to buy it and the pillow 😂

Was in a basement room which stank of damp and was very noisy. While design is fun implementation is bad. I would avoid this
