Old lady run family hotel. Second floor has a few rooms. The owner does not speak English and has to communicate in English. Basic but worth the money.

Best experience I could get from this place was the owner being a great cook and exceptional with her conversations and mannerisms in sending and welcoming her customers. Location is wonderful too, as it is quiet yet not far from the main areas to eat and transit in Yamagata. Honestly 1 of a hidden gem. Only drawback would probably be the hot tub as she is handling it on her own and if there are multiple people living there that night, it can get a little dirty, so I'll keep to using the showers would do. Love the place so much!

I spent four great nights at Yamashiroya Ryokan when I was visiting for sight seeing and skiing. The owner was very nice and looked after me very well. She is a great cook as well and the breakfasts were excellent! I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

Very close to the station and the bus stop to Zao! The breakfast is delicious and the additional price is 1000 yen. The hostess is very kind and it is as comfortable as living at home.

Very close to Yamagata Station, very easy to find. The proprietress is very friendly and the Japanese-style room is very clean and tidy. For the Japanese breakfast set, you can choose to dine at 07:00 or 08:00.

We visited with our children on a weekday in June. We were the only guests that day, so we were able to use the facility freely. The building seems to be well-maintained and clean. The bathroom is not in the room but shared, but it was clean and we didn't feel any stress. (There were no other guests.) The landlady was kind and talked to our children many times, so it was comfortable even with children. We were able to eat a good meal from the morning, and she told us, "There are a lot of twin cherries this year 🍒".
