Rum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself.
We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area.
Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too.
We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful.
After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks.
We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

This B & B is a little hidden gem. It's situated in between windermere and bowness just off the main road so really quiet. The staff were extremely nice friendly and helpful. Rooms spotless we actually couldn't fault it one bit. Breakfast high quality and poached eggs to die for. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay really pleasant I feel sure we will be back..

My husband and l had a fabulous 6 night stay. We stayed in the Shute Room with 4 poster bed and had a fantastic breakfast every morning g delivered by the waitress Kinga who was always so cheerful and friendly. The location of the Rum Doodle is half way between Windermere and Bowness so exactly 15 mins walk each way and the main road to catch a bus is only a 5 mins walk each walk away. I did make a mistake with my booking and thought l had booked until Thursday 12th June but checkout was meant to have been Wednesday 11th June but luckily the owner Steve had another available room and together with Ellie moved our belongings into another room on the ground floor which was very cosy and comfortable and had a super rainfall shower in the en-suite. I apologised for the mix up and Steve was very understanding and adaptable. We will definitely stay again next time we will be in the area and next time l need to pay more attention to the check out day! Thank you Rum Doodle fir such an enjoyable stay!

A lovely bed and breakfast indeed. The staff are wonderful and the breakfast was amazing. You've got a wide range of vegetarian to full English with bacon and sausages. The room was homely and clean. They even had small things such as cotton buds, dressing gowns, etc. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic little B&B - full of character and an easy walk into Windermere or Bowness for shops, restaurants and facilities. Stayed previously and would definitely stay again as a good base for walks out into the fells. Breakfast was glorious - we stayed in Jungle so had it served in our bedroom which was a real treat! Highly recommend the full Cumbrian cooked breakfast- excellent quality ingredients well cooked and not greasy or fatty. Each room is individually styled and live the overall one and attentive staff.

We had an excellent stay at this well-appointed, conveniently located establishment. It's situated in a quiet neighborhood, but within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. Breakfast was tailored to individual wishes and very well prepared. We look forward to a return visit.

Loved our room at Rumdoodle. Room 6 Shute. Very clean and comfortable. Nice quality bed linen. Amazing breakfasts. Well done chef. Friendly staff, bathroom needs updating but was very clean and the towels and robes were lovely. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits were all provided. Bonus was onsite parking.

Lovely B&B in a great location. 10 mins walk in either direction to shops, cafes and restaurants. The lake is just a few minutes more in the one direction.
Car parking available.
Lovely rooms. Very clean. Most comfortable nights sleep I've had in a very long time. (I'd love to know where the mattress and pillows are from so I can purchase for home)
I arrived several hours early prior to check in and was allowed to leave my car whilst I went out for the afternoon. I was given my room key at this point too. Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and very delishious too.
We had a lovely stay and would stay again. Have recommended to a friend already.

Booked this online and we’re not disappointed Here for 2 nights as we were celebrating our anniversary Staff made you welcome and were quickly booked in and shown to room Our room was the Shute room the largest with a 4 poster bed Had WiFi everything was clean and premium bedding Had a table where we had breakfast served to the room which was tasty and a good variety to choose from We really enjoyed our stay here and would return
