Drostdy Hotel
"It was a lovely location and the hotel very luxurious. The king size rooms are like mini apartments and the breakfast was really good"
Hlosi Game Lodge - Amakhala Game Reserve
"This is a magical location for a family safari. The hotel staff sure super accommodating from start to finish - and always have smiles to greet you. Nothing is too much trouble! The food is fantastic - great choices and wonderfully prepared. I have to say, the green goddess omelette is the best omelette I’ve ever had! The rooms are spacious and spotless - air conditioned when needed and the staff switch them to heaters if the weather changes. The staff put on an amazing show on our first night - wonderful singing and authentic dancing! Magical!! The safaris are incredible!! We saw the big five and a wealth of other species and the guide “K” was an absolute rockstar!!! All in all - a perfect choice"
Founders Lodge by Mantis
"Everything about our 3 night stay at Founders Lodge was exceptional……. We fitted in 6x 3 hour game drives, and got to see so many animals ,in their natural habitat. James, our guide was brilliant . He even managed to find a cheetah for us on our final drive! The welcomes on arrival, and after each game drive were really nice. And the hot towel and different drink to welcome us back from each drive added to the staff’s genuine greetings. The food was just extraordinary- so varied , plentiful and delicious. It was the only place we ever stayed , where there was a large cooked breakfast menu, and a different set of cooked breakfast menu choices each day.! The hide viewing area was an extra treat. We got to see rhinos , giraffes, and zebras up close at the Founders watering hole. That was in addition to our 6 x 3 hr safari drives! And the view from our room was so good, that as soon as we opened the curtains in the morning, we got to see animals at the watering hole . Thank you for making our stay so perfect. Margo & John"
Tsitsikamma Village Inn
"Nice location, beautiful open garden space, excellent food and conveniently close to other attractions. My only issue is the room quality - relatively small with very cheap finishes - plastic crates for bedside tables, corrugated iron sheet as a bed backing-board and tins for light shades. I guess they're going or the rustic/informal settlement feel but to me, it missed the mark, especially given the price paid for the room. I don't think all rooms have those finishes, but I'm guessing those are the ones you get if you declare that you're local?"
Addo Dung Beetle Guest Farm
"We had a lovely stay.Friendly and professional staff.Chalet is beautiful and clean with spectacular view over the farm. Will highly recommend "
Storms River Guest Lodge
"I have become used to warm and welcoming service across South Africa but this takes the crown. Storms river is a beautiful place in a beautiful part of the world and this guest lodge was a great choice The owner took the time to know my plans, gave excellent advice and even organised a shuttle for me. Very comfortable and quiet place for sleep and relax. Breakfast is generous, fresh and delicious. Great range of choices. Even does an excellent cappuccino!!! Highly recommended"
Grand House Lodge Jeffreys Bay
"Our two-day stay was very good, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Parking at the accommodation, however, is a major problem, as there is insufficient parking on the premises. The bed in the Whales' room needs to be replaced, as it has exceeded its lifespan."
Royal St Andrews Hotel by Mantis
"Our experience at the Royal St Andrews Hotel was amazing! The beads are the best and the service impeccable, the staff are always friendly and the food was the best. Breakfast was my favourite!"
A1 Kynaston Self Catering or Bed and Breakfast
"A Warm thanks to both Sharon and Paul for your hospitality. We really enjoyed the tranquility of both our room as well as the little outside garden. Everything was spic and span. More than what we hoped for. Highly recommended. :-)"

Aan Die Oewer Guest House
"Very easy to find location and communicate with very friendly householder The apartment is cosy but slightly ascetic (no fully isolated bathroom from main room) Beautiful orchard and view around site Gorgeous ancient city in Dutch style with delicious meals in restaurants and awesome local paleontology museum"
Supertubes Guesthouse
"Amazing two nights. First time in J Bay and where better to be. You feel like you in the surf just looking out of the window. Modern and upmarket accommodation and you can see all the little details and attention. Can't wait for the next time."
Aloe Again
"It's a great venue. The bed was great. The pillows were great. The service was great. When an issue arose like the geyser thermostat broke, the communication was excellent and the thing was fixed fast. All in all, the hospitality was professional the place was clean and the cleaning staff were very efficient and friendly. We have no complaints."
The Mandyville Jeffreys Bay
"The place is refreshing, very clean, and inviting. Its location is also perfect, especially for weekend getaways. Please add a room service menu."
Oceana Beach and Wildlife Reserve
"This absolutely beautiful location allows you to just absolutely unwind and feel rejuvenated while taking in the spectacular views around you."
The Sands @ St Francis
"The staff were lovely, the food was good and the room was pleasant. However, the lack of privacy with the toilet was a big issue for me. There is no privacy from your partner at all - I don't mind that for a wee, but a number two is a step too far for me! The toilet is in the bathroom and the bathroom is open air to the bedroom, with just a blind between, which you need open for daylight really. No noise or smell barrier available at all!"
Hitgeheim Country Lodge
"We stayed 2 nights in a superior de luxe room. The rooms are spacious, with comfy beds, chairs and huge bathroom. We also had our own pool and outside shower. The room had great views over the valley and river. Beds turned down each evening and free sherry. Breakfast is self serve cols and hit dishes to order. We booked dinner on both nights - 4 courses, choices are made after breakfast. We also went on the Addo game drive, which sets of at 8 am. It's a 25km drive to the park in a god truck. Your driver is your guide ( take your drink and poss a jacket on cooler days) . Lunch is provided by the hotel which was very filling. The road to the hotel is unmade so be wary if in a hire car, also lots of road works in the area so allow extra time. "
Kwantu Private Game Reserve
"The service and facilities were top stuff, as well as the actual reserve itself and the predator rehab centre to was amazing and thanks to Shakir and Saadia for going out of their way to make it so special for us!"
Aquarius Bed and Breakfast
"The place was nice and neat and in a central of jbay people are friendly and very welcoming to stay in."
Canal Guest House - Waterfront Boutique B&B
"We had a lovely short stay here. Great spot on the canal as, room 3, looks onto the canal. Pretty room, walking distance to the canals and shops across the road. Great hosts. "
Misty Mountain Reserve
"Misty Mountain reserve is gorgeous and has so much potential. It was unfortunate that the experience was let down by the four wheelers and restaurant, serving us cold food and raw breakfast."
Dolphin View Guesthouse
"The service and cleanliness was excellent, only the toilet we didn't like the fact that it is too close to the bedroom"
Cape St Francis Resort
"In the middle of nowhere!
Tube n Axe Lodge and Backpackers
"Stayed here as part of garden route. Luxury tent was beautiful. Location great and staff very helpful. Breakfast was also excellent"
Assegaaibosch Country Lodge
"Wonderful lodge, amazing staff, great food and facilities. Thank you to Antoinette for being such a great host, upon arrival we requested to be moved to the room with the pool view and she did the best that she can to accommodate our preferences. All other staff was amazing and helpful. The pool is amazing, the club area where there is a pool table and table tennis is a great way to unwind. Really enjoyed my stay there and would highly recommend it."
Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge
"We booked Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge based on the photos online, but unfortunately the real-life experience didn’t match expectations. It felt quite misleading compared to what is shown — overall the stay was medium at best. We stayed in a “Superior Suite”, but it was essentially a converted tent with newer furniture. The room was not very clean and clearly needs renovation. There was also no air conditioning, and we had to walk quite far to reach our suite. That said, the balcony area was nice, and having an outdoor shower as well as a bathtub was a great touch. The lodge does have wild animals on the property, including elephants and giraffes, which sounds amazing. However, it didn’t feel fully natural to us, as we were told the elephants are fed and locked in every night, which took away from the authentic wildlife experience. The location is another big downside. The road to the lodge is around 30 km of rough gravel/off-road driving, which we wouldn’t recommend with your own car. We arranged a transfer through the lodge, which was convenient, but very expensive. On top of that, the Addo Elephant Park entrance is about 1.5 hours away, making it inconvenient if you’re staying here mainly for park visits. Food was average and not very tasty. Drinks are not included and are overpriced. The pool was also not usable during our stay, as it was completely green. The staff are friendly and sweet, but not proactive — we had to ask for everything (seat pillows outside, lighting the fire, etc.), which doesn’t feel like hospitality at this level. Overall, this lodge might work if you keep expectations low, but for us it was disappointing considering the price we paid and we wouldn’t return."
