Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa Reviews

We stayed from 27th to 31sr Dec 2023. Really really disappointed hotel’s action and attitude. Experience at this hotel was good but last day( today) was the worst. Our meeting time today at lobby was 8:30 but sea plane departed and departed around 11:30 and we missed our 12:30 flight to go back to our country. I know the weather cannot be controlled but heard there was the guest whose flight was 11:45 and they could catch their flight. The hotel staff at airport said we were not in urgent customer’s list so we missed the flight. Really wonder why other guests could get their flight but we could not? Hotel should take care all guests. If you knew our flight was already closed, we wanted you to inform us before we leave your hotel. Then we can consider how we can do for this situation. Also there are no supports from your hotel. I will not recommend your hotel to anyone and get reluctant to stay again. We expected good hospitality but really we are disappointing now.

Nice island, amazing reef for snorkeling, acceptable food. They should improve night activities and excursions: local island is avoidable.

We really liked the hotel. Excellent house reef. We took FB food. Everything is delicious. Red fish in the morning. (AI has its own restaurant. We obviously didn't go there) Be sure to take coral slippers in the stove in the water, there are a lot of pieces of coral almost everywhere. You don't need to take regular shoes. You can walk around the island barefoot. You can walk around the whole island in about 30 minutes. Take fins and a mask (or you can rent them there for $15 per day)

It is a very well-kept resort with various environmental sustainability certifications, very quiet (there are no noisy activities, apart from some music after dinner in the bar area). The strong points are the services and care of both the common areas and the rooms, an excellent restaurant which varies the menu daily with "themed" ideas. On the island there is an excellent diving center professionally managed by Euro-divers, perhaps just a little expensive in prices, especially in the case of family packages or other combinations that include a certain number of dives. The island's reef has a good variety of corals and fish and is easily accessible from several points.

The service is good, the food in the restaurant tastes authentic, and the snorkeling is really good, but the rooms on the island are full and a bit noisy. The privacy of the garden room is poor.

It's a great resort. The facilities are not very luxurious, but they are very thoughtful and have everything you need. The water house also has a jacuzzi, which is very enjoyable. The scenery is great, and you can see a lot of things while snorkeling. You can usually see small sharks on the beach while walking around the resort. At this accommodation price, it is a perfect experience. There are very few Chinese people here. I saw two on the first day on the island, but none after that. They were basically European. I brought my family with me for vacation🏖️. The employees were very nice. There was a Chinese-speaking teacher on the first day on the island. My sister helped me check in, but I didn't see him for the next few days. Fortunately, I was able to play well with my loose English. In short, if the budget is limited, this resort is definitely the best choice. You can stay for a few more days. The scenery and services will not be discounted. I will go again if I have the opportunity!

My sister and I stayed in a water villa for 3 nights. Stingrays and blacktip reef sharks swim to the bottom of the pier during the day, and squid at night. 98% of the customers are Westerners, and there are almost no Asians. The full board buffet dinner changed every day and was delicious. The grilled salmon and fruit at breakfast were also great. It's a great resort, except that the toilet in the room was outside and there was no sunshade, so I needed a parasol every time I needed to relieve myself.

A water house with a jacuzzi booked for the last two nights on Island V. In front of the water house is a balcony facing the lagoon, behind it is a jacuzzi, and the bathroom is very large and spacious. You can swim directly into the sea from the balcony. But the next time I come, I will choose the sand house. It is cost-effective and close to restaurants and diving spots.

The room is nice, the food is okay, the best thing is snorkeling, it’s so beautiful, the coral is beautiful. Ctrip’s service is very good, serious and responsible, and helped communicate many times, thank you very much 🙏

Great hotel! The accommodation is clean, the room is large, the service is good, and the food is varied and delicious! Snorkeling Class A lives up to its name!

The room is clean and tidy, with air conditioning, and the temperature is comfortable. The bathroom is unique and beautiful. The food is rich, with various flavors, and a wide variety of fruits. The service is very good. There is a white sand beach right outside the house, and there are snorkeling resorts around it.

Overall satisfied.

This was our third visit to the Maldives, and although we have loved every island we’ve visited, Vilamendhoo has found a special place in our hearts. The house reef is spectacular, just meters from the shore and with clearly marked entry/exit points and life rings fixed as rest points at regular intervals along the reef, giving even less confident swimmers a chance to enjoy the spectacular sea-life. We chose South Ari Atoll for the opportunity to see whale sharks, and rather than taking a half-day whale shark tour and risk being one of a hundred divers and snorkellers surrounding a single whale shark, we did as we had been recommended and booked a full day “ocean discovery” excursion. The idea was that we would have more time to find a whale shark, and hopefully have it all to ourselves after the other tour boats had headed back for the day. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any whale sharks, despite sightings the day before and after, but we were lucky enough to swim with manta rays and turtles, and to be entertained by dolphins along the way. We consoled ourselves by saying we now have a valid excuse to come back! The food was the best we’ve had in the Maldives. We ate every meal at the buffet, but there was so much variety that we never got bored. We were particularly grateful for the wide range of fresh and delicious salad options. Although apparently fully occupied, the resort never felt even slightly crowded. We booked an adjoining beach villa, and the short stretch of beach between the villa and the sea, where we had our own allocated sun beds, had ample shade and felt like it belonged just to us. We were fortunate enough to be upgraded partway through our stay to a jacuzzi over-water villa, which we loved. To be honest, though, the jacuzzi seemed rather pointless when we could walk down the steps from our balcony straight into the Indian Ocean! It was good to see a Padel court on the island, alongside the usual tennis, badminton, table tennis etc. The resort hasn’t yet worked out a system for finding people to play with (you need four people for a game of Padel), but I’m sure that will come with time. As it was, we did find a couple of other guests to play with, and my partner managed to infiltrate the nightly staff Padel sessions! Not being big drinkers, we didn’t get the all inclusive package, and that turned out to be the right choice. In the end we managed to go on an all-day excursion, have an introductory scuba diving lesson, a 75 minute massage, and all the drinks we wanted for only slightly more than it would have cost to get the AIP. We will definitely be coming back to the Maldives. The hard part will be deciding whether to come back to the wonderful Vilamendhoo or try a fourth resort!

Fabulous island with a simply amazing 'house reef ' bursting with life . We stayed 'all-inclusive ' in a water villa and snorkelled at every opportunity - pre breakfast , lunch and dinner ! The sea life is stunning - we had turtles , rays and sharks ( black tip and nurse) swimming past our villa. Entry / exit point to reef clearly marked which is very helpful . Food was really good , lots of variety for every taste . We had wine with lunch / dinner and 'house ' cocktails most nights , all of which were great . Attentive service and the island was spotless ! Our second visit to the Maldives ( Meeru island in 2022 run by same hotel group ) and another simply fabulous holiday . We didn't utilise all that was on offer under the 'all-inclusive , however felt it was good value . I paid for a massage at the spa which was amazing 5* ! We paid to do the 4.5 hours whale shark excursion .. the sea was a tad 'frisky' , so that took its toll on a couple of people ( takes 1.5 hours to get to area ) .... there were 'loads ' of other boats there too ( around 20) . Was very fortunate that I did get to snorkel with a whale shark , however there were hoards of people in the water, the waves were large and that is not what I enjoy , so I didn't get in for the second opportunity . Definitely a 5* review for a 5* holiday
