"Overall a nice property. Location is good and a nice sea view from lobby. Check-in staff could not honor a sea view room and yet the given room was nice but the fittings had issues and few things were not working. Property doesn't offer easy and direct access to sea and you need to either take a slipper route of 500 meters or take a vehicle to drive to cliff. Breakfast spread was very minimal but service at breakfast was great. Pool timings is from 8 AM till 7 PM which is odd. In the hot weather, it's better to have beautiful pool opened 5 ish in the morning."

"Loved this place! Binu gave a very warm welcome and was very helpful during my stay. Varlala Villa is spotlessly, clean, comfortable, quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the beach. They only have 4 rooms. My room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. There is a kitchen for use with a fridge, kettle, tea, coffee and drinking water. Really enjoyed my stay."

"Fantastic location - just a short tuk tuk ride from the train station and a couple of minute walk ***** the cliff with stairs to the beach very close by. The guesthouse is tucked away down a cute alley and as you come out of it you are surrounded by bars and shops on either side with a gorgeous view out over the beach. We stayed in one of the bottom rooms, as we were told it was a little cooler, and found the temperature to be comfortable, especially with the decent fan. The room was clean with comfy pillows and free WiFi. Our host was lovely and welcoming. He spoke fantastic English so we chatted for a while. He was really helpful in letting us know where to eat and which ATM would provide the best rates, even offering to drive us there. On the day we left, we had a few hours before the train so he let us check out late for free and then leave our bags in his room so we didn't have to carry them around with us. A great stay in Varkala!"

I think the word “charm” sums up Sajjoys perfectly from the decor and size of the hotel to the team who helped to make us so welcome and feel at home - the perfect blend of efficiency and friendliness. The food was extremely good, prepared by a chef who certainly knows how to cook Indian and fusion food. The Ayavedic treatment on offer was superb and run by Dr Divya, a doctor of Ayaveda, who most certainly knows how to help solve health issues. Thank you to Pravi and all your wonderful team: so sad to say goodbye, but, hopefully, see you all again."

"The location was ok, but the room they provided was not good. There were lot of plantation on the door of the room which was causing issue to enter. My room had lizards, lot of mosquitos, earthworm. Very low light in the washroom. The property requires immediate maintenance. The food was good but less vegetarian options."

"My experience during the stay was extremely pathetic 1. Reception counter was most of time empty , Linen was dirty inside the room. 2 No Intercom Facility 3. We had to search a person everytime to provide water 4. There is no restaurant and no proper place to eat. We had to order food from Zomato. Moreover No Buffet Breakfast. The only Breakfast they had was omelette , Water Melon, Cold Sambha and small cold dosas. One should order one thing at a time, otherwise they bring all items after making you wait for an hour. 5. Jhoola / Swing was broken. 6. During Power cut off, the staff had to be searched in the whole property to switch on the generator, 7. Overgrown grass in the lawn, no place to walk. 8 And Sorry, no good views from the property. Absolutely waste of time and money. Not recommended at all . Visit and Explore at your own risk"

"There’s a phrase in Indian hospitality: Atithi Devo Bhava — “The guest is god.” Akshay treated me like a goddess. They offered me a beautiful room at a generous price and truly tended to every need. I caught a small bug during my stay; when I didn’t emerge from my room for a day, they quietly sent someone to check on me. That kind of care is rare. The staff helped with everything — finding supplies, giving directions, arranging my taxi to the airport. They refilled my water bottles daily, sparing me from contributing more plastic to the world. Everyone greeted me with a warm smile and a gentle “How are you, madam?” and I felt cared for in every way. My room was spacious and lovely, with an excellent air conditioner. There was a little fridge, and they brought me a kettle and a mug for my essential predawn coffee. Nothing I asked for was ever refused. I felt truly welcomed here. And the patio — I loved that space. It sits right above the street, so there’s a steady flow of life passing by, but I was tucked behind a railing and plants, mostly shielded from view. It gave me the rare pleasure of being on my own while still feeling connected to the pulse of Varkala. I spent so many hours there writing, sipping tea, and taking in the world. The beach is just a short walk down a lively lane full of shops and cafés. Varkala has many dogs, and while that can sometimes be hard to witness, the dogs here are cared for. I watched a team feeding the beach dogs, making sure the shy ones weren’t pushed aside. It told me a lot about the heart of this place. Varkala Beach is rich with culture, tradition, and spirituality. I’ve loved my time here and am truly sad to be leaving tomorrow. Come to Varkala. Stay at Akshay. It’s a place where kindness is a daily ritual, and guests are treated with genuine devotion."

I have been a lot around the world, but such a nightmare I have not met anywhere, you can write a poem about this institution, room and bathroom in the state of the hut of the poorest Hindus, no water, no, clean plates, asked to give a knife-give a sweat , who carved coal, lay dirty rags everywhere, in the kitchen in servants instead of someone's pants , sari, shorts, an hour after the settlement found worm in his shoes that stood in the room, Then the lizards came, the morning when people were out of the room sitting right on the floor and eating their breakfast with their hands , they didn't have the devices... Thank God it was crazy to book for 2 nights, but we ran away as soon as the next morning came , for 2400 per night it was certainly cool, I think the cows have a better chlew than this hotel , 20 meters away they found a chic bungalow with a pool and an ocean exit with breakfast for 4,000 a day Make conclusions"
