We picked Remote Resort as a base for diving on Rainbow Reef combined with great food and it delivered! Our group of 7 had 3 villas and our stay was fantastic. The kitchen was very accommodating of our dietary needs, the dive staff was excellent, the rooms and beds were comfortable and large (love the outdoor shower!). The resort grounds were just big enough to support an almost-hour walk each day (though the same walk). The best surprise: the house reef was better than any I've seen -- either elsewhere in Fiji or the Philippines or Caribbean.

What an outstanding vacation we had at the Remote Resort! This definitely ranks up at the top of my vacations. It is the one of the most unique place I've been! We celebrated my 70th birthday and our 45th anniversary and the staff made them both so special! This was our first trip to Fiji. I wanted to find a spot with snorkeling comparable to the Society Islands. We flew direct to Nadi from DFW & caught Fiji link to Taveuni, so all in all we spent a bit over 24 hours from our house to RR. We spent 9 nights in the Royal Retreat. I loved the view, the space, the splash pool, and outdoor shower. The flooring around the pool does get slippery when wet, so care should be taken. The beds were very comfortable. I took my own pillow because I think I'm a princess. It was very humid and hot while we were there and I was so thankful for the AC. It's a small unit up on the wall and I was worried the first day, but by pulling the drapes and shutting off the bathroom we were able to keep the room cool. We were mostly out during the day or in the splash pool. There is no wifi in the room, but I didn't miss it at all. They do have wifi up at the Pavilion where you go for meals or drinks so you can stay connected. The food was good and plentiful, and I loved the different private spots to eat dinner each night. The fruit plate at breakfast was so good and fresh! They grow their own pineapple, papayas, bananas, coconut, lemongrass for tea, and I'm sure many other things. I especially loved the lunches and they had so many good desserts! Standout dishes to me: Eggs Benedict, Rourou Soup (so good!), Thai Salad, Roti wraps, shrimp kabobs, chickpea, coconut and cashew curry, and the island fruit parfait. I wanted excellent snorkeling and I sure got it! I recommend you do all the snorkeling excursions if you are into that. I enjoyed everything I did and the picnics were nice! We went to the Rainbow Reef twice and Vilisi and Paulo took me to different reefs each time. I did the Nakuna and Sau Bay snorkel, my husband and I did the Kioa Island Snorkel and picnic, and I tried twice to see the giant mantas. I was disappointed they didn't show, but got to go to two different wonderful snorkel spots. My husband wasn't able to snorkel so Paulo went with me on the house reef which I really appreciated. One of the best parts of The RR is the staff. They were so warm, welcoming and kind. I felt so at home there and miss them already. I have never felt so taken care of and they truly felt like friends! Vilisi and Paulo took me on so many wonderful underwater adventures and Ili, Maria, Sia, Valeria, Faye, Mela, Zoe, and everyone else were just fabulous. The staff made our last night so special celebrating our anniversary. That will always be a special memory. I was afraid it would rain a lot while we were there since we were there at the end of rainy season, but we didn't have a drop of rain the whole time. We saw rain on the surrounding islands, but it always went arou

This was my first trip to Fiji, and I went for the diving on Rainbow Reef. The positive reviews of the resort, the staff and the food/drinks are all accurate. This is truly a magical place that is perfect for those seeking peace, quiet and tranquility. I can highly recommend The Remote Resort. However, there is also something very special about its 'on site" dive operation that not everyone writes about. This resort also offers a concierge scuba and snorkel operation that is custom tailored to meet the expectations of its guest. With multiple boats, knowledgeable crews, high end gear, all of your needs are accommodated. Wilson, the Team lead, has created an operation like no other I have experienced. His commitment to safety is greatly appreciated. His knowledge of the Reef system is unbelievable. Moreover, his attention to his staff and the guests is sensational!!! I would go back today!!

This is our 4th trip to Remote Resort and Remote is definitely our favorite place to vacation for a beautiful, romantic and tropical setting. We love Fiji! And yes, Fiji is absolutely worth the flight. We have previously traveled to most places in the Caribbean as well as Moorea and Bora Bora. We have previously stayed at 4 other luxury Fiji properties that promote a healthy house reef and Remote has them all beat on so many levels. If you are looking for a location where you can jump in and just start snorkeling, Remote is an excellent choice. The food and service at Remote is excellent as is the entire property and the rooms. Remote has a high attention to detail and the staff is amazing. This resort is great for snorkeling, diving ( Rainbow Reef) and other activities for those that are interested but it’s also an excellent place to just chill. It is a boutique property and the owners and staff take excellent care to give their guests privacy as well as private romantic dining experiences. It is quiet here, and I find I can easily read a book here, which is not something I can always do when traveling. The food served here is also excellent. We are served fresh fruits just picked off their trees, fresh fish we have seen brought in after a catch, local beef and other organic fruits and veggies.Remotes food far surpasses the other places in Fiji I have previously stayed at. I would recommend this resort for a wonderful dive or snorkel vacation, to celebrate something special or just to relax and read. It is an incredible honeymoon destination also. We are here celebrating our 20th anniversary and enjoying this barefoot luxury property. The dipping pools and shaded porches are wonderful! We have flown into Taveuni each time we have visited Remote Resort. I would encourage you to communicate directly with the resort if you have mobility issues riding in a boat. They are quite helpful and accommodating. Just get here. You will fall in love with this wonderful wonderful place just like we have.

We spent 1 week at The Remote Resort and it went too fast! We had an excellent stay!We would like to thanks Graeme for the Open Water of our son. We did some very nice dives (colorful corals and tons of fishes) thanks to Wilson! We appreciated his knowledge of the environment and the currents. The entire diving team was really nice. We had such a great time! A big thank you too to Helen, Vilisi, captains Kim and PK. The food is delicious and diverse! Applause to the kitchen team! The staff is friendly and attentive. Thanks to Sia, Ili, Valeria and Faye for their kindness. We enjoyed going to visit the village of Vunikura! People are really nice and our son had a lot of fun with the kids from the village! Vinaka to the entire Remote team!!

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful 6 nights at The Remote Resort. All the amazing reviews you read are true. This place is a gem. It was our first trip to Fiji, and I've wanted to go for so long. (I had originally booked for 2020, which had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.) Weather: We were there in the rainy season (last week of March), but got incredibly lucky. For the first 5 days there was not a drop of rain. It was beautiful, sunny, fluffy clouds, and a gentle breeze to lessen the humidity. I kept commenting that the air felt silky. I actually was a teeny bit disappointed that there wasn't any rain, because I wanted the chance to experience a tropical shower there. And then, just like that, we did in fact get afternoon/evening showers the last two days. Perfection. Staff: They are just the loveliest people. So warm, so kind. They make you feel like you're a guest in their home. Maria at the bar makes amazing drinks, and she just has the most beautiful smile. Faye carefully and expertly helped me cross over rocks during our hike, and guided us on our snorkeling trip to the Rainbow Reef. Illi was so helpful in every way. There are many more people...they are all wonderful. Villas: I opted for the oceanfront villa (the ones without air conditioning) because I wanted more of a rustic, traditional feel. We absolutely loved it. The lack of a/c was not a problem at all. We had the overhead ceiling fan, and we were very comfortable at night. I loved the plunge pool, and our view from the deck and inside the villa was gorgeous. Food and drinks: Delicious. And the best part is that every night for dinner, they set each couple's table in a different spot. It's a surprise each evening. We would go to the bar before sunset, have a drink or two, chit chat with other guests (and the owner Dan, who was there the first few nights), an then when we were ready for dinner, we would just let the staff know, and they would lead us to a beautifully set table. Activities: We did two snorkeling trips, and it was the best snorkeling I've done (and I've snorkeled around the world.) We also really liked the Taveuni Insider hike to the waterfalls with a stop at the waterslide afterward. I didn't do the waterslide because I bruise easily and it looked like I'd come out of it black and blue. But my husband and another couple did it, and they all said it was fun (and not painful). The best part was seeing these three little local boys diving and doing back flips into the water from the cliff. The stand up paddling at the resort was also fun. Spa: I booked the Ultimate Spa package, and I'm really glad I did. Every treatment was bliss. I could go on....it was truly one of the best vacations of my life (maybe the best).

This is the most exciting and important invigorating vacation my husband and I have been on. We came to Remote Resort from California after a stressful previous year. Living in traffic and on top of one another in albeit beautiful Newport Beach. We travelled from LAX via Fiji Air business class (lovely flight, good food and drink with a very clean plane and highly attentive staff) and then raced over to the Fiji smaller terminal for our internal and flight. We were delayed 5 hours by a huge rainstorm. Turned out we could have slowed down a bit in getting over there. Then you take a boat to the resort. Note: Do not bring your LV or high end leather luggage as it is going to get wet and no one will care what you are carrying anyway! After a beautiful arrival which I will let you experience and won’t spoil the surprises, we rested for the rest of the day. Over the next 4 days we snorkeled everyday thank you Vileesi and Kim. Vileesi snorkeled with me everyday and actually held my hand in difficult current and made sure that she showed me everything there was to see that I surely would have missed. We had so much fun snorkeling, eating, drinking, laughing and hanging out with our new staff family. The food is so delicious and is not , not American processed, chemically enhanced food. It is fresh, home grown, cooked to order food like we are supposed to be eating. Our American bodies go through a period of food detox I think and you will leave this resort with a finer palate and more appreciative of fresh, healthy food. The rooms are clean clean clean! Amazing air conditioning and the house reef was better than any I saw anywhere else. Everything is so alive. It was a real awakening for me of what Hawaii probably looked like 75 years ago. This resort brought my husband and I closer as there is nothing to do at night except listen to your own music and talk and entertain each other. Outdoor shower was pristine, not a **** in sight! Kim and Valeesi made sure we did a new part of rainbow reef each day and went to some fabulous new beach and ate great picnics with my hand made Mai tais. We cannot wait to go back next year. This was too good of a place to not continue the exploration of amazing Rainbow Reef and I can’t wait to get back with our new friends! Love you all at Remote for making our time Amazing❤️John and Kristi

This time Trip advisor let me down. My wife and I left the resort after three days and went to another resort on Savusavu. On arrival the resort car to pick us up for the hour drive across Savusavu was terrible. The car exterior was dirty and in desperate need of car wash. The vinyl seats torn and most importantly the brakes shoes were very worn and the car sounded like it needed a new wheel bearing. Our driver was a very careful driver, but the safety of the car immediately made me question my choice of the Remote Resort. I paid extra for a room with a plunge pool. The steps into the pool (both of them) were exceptionally large and without a handrail to assist, my wife was unable to get in, let alone out of the plunge pool. I had difficulty as well and did not use it. The food did not consistently live up to the Trip Advisor reviews. Some meals were particularly good, others were average. The website makes a big deal about the house reef. Not the resort’s fault but the weather was quite windy and the house reef was not accessible from the dock very easily at all. In fact, my wife who is a very cautious swimmer did not attempt a snorkel there once. So make sure you are a strong swimmer in case the weather does not cooperate, maybe check average weather for the time of year you book so you can hopefully easily access the house reef and have a better experience.
