Fiordland Hotel ★★★
"It's very quiet here; it's a small town."
Te Anau Lakeview Holiday Park & Motels ★★★★
"The hotel is in good position in te anau, really good cheap option in the city, has also a shared kitchen for those who wants to prepare their on meals."
Parklands Motel & Apartments Te Anau ★★★
"The room was spacious and very clean, and the kitchen was well-equipped, perfect for cooking. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from Lake Te Anau. The front desk closes at 7 PM, and they leave the keys at the door for self-check-in. It's about a 2-hour drive from the fiords, making it a good base for those visiting the fiords. The price was a bit on the high side."
Kingsgate Hotel Te Anau ★★★
"We had a great stay at Kingsgate hotel in Te anau. We were greeted with cheerful manager and check-in was smooth. The location is great as it is right opposite lake and it is about 2.5 hrs from Milford sound. The room was spacious and nice. Did not get to try their dinner or breakfast. Would have preferred if the bathroom had some ventilation as it could smell for some time. Would definitely stay there again in future."
Lakeside Motel & Apartments ★★★
"Need to pay attention and input correctly on the number of guests for the room. We need to pay extra on site cause we picked the wrong number of guests, eventho the room has 1 queen bed and 3 single bed (fit to 5 guests), but if it's written 2 guests than it's for 2 guests price. The room has a nice view."
Radfords on the Lake ★★★★★
"The hotel has a great lakeside view, is quiet at night, and has excellent indoor facilities. The front desk staff are very helpful and provide detailed explanations of nearby attractions. I accidentally broke a glass bottle of water in my room, but when I told the receptionist at check-out, she said it was okay, which made me happy."
Tasman Holiday Parks - Te Anau ★★★
"Good safe area, plenty parking. Clean rooms and good amenities."
Aden Motel ★★★
"Nice cozy motel with ample space in the room. Short drive away from the Main Street in Te Anau."
Asure Explorer Motel & Apartments ★★★★
"Convenient transportation, clean and hygienic, well-equipped facilities, great! Recommended."

Alpenhorn Motel
"Alpenhorn is dated, but the location is good. Close to the town center and lake. Fine if you’re just looking for a place to stay going to and from Milford Sound."
Edgewater Motel
"Facilities: Basic motel, no oven or washing machine. Cleanliness: Cleaned daily, good. Environment: Right by the lake, excellent location. Service: Virtually none, mainly focused on privacy and friendly staff."
Distinction Te Anau Hotel & Villas
"I think this is probably the best hotel in Te Anau, and the location is great too. 👍"
Shakespeare House
"This was a fantastic B&B. The owners were phenomenal, friendly and could not do enough for us. The room very very clean and the bed very comfortable Best B&B we have stayed in for a long time"
Alpine View Motel
"Big regret. Extremely unhappy with condescending attitude, lack of hospitality, and unprofessionalism of owners Rodger and Tilly. We made a booking on the website and selected 10pm ETA (this time option was available on the website, and was clearly written on our confirmation email). When I realised night of that they hadn’t let me know late arrival arrangements, I emailed well within reception hours to ask what to do and over some correspondence received a series of very condescending emails with a snarky attitude. After charging us $40 simply to access a key lockbox, the owners wrote back in a condescending tone "Most people just pay attention to our confirmation email ... The confirmation email clearly states 8pm for reception closure, but you decided to ignore that for whatever reason... We can’t wait up for people at all hours of the night… No other job works 12 hours per day…” Our email said 10pm ETA, since that option was available on the website. Further, after our stay, they sarcastically thanked us for leaving rubbish on the bathroom floor (not true at all), and seemed to accuse me of lying when I let them know our schedule was delayed because we were told Homer Tunnel was closing that night, saying it wasn't closed and asking how I managed to communicate if I was in Milford Sound the previous night since there is no cell service there (even though the restaurant and hotel at Milford Sound has wifi to send emails…). They also weren’t there in reception at 9:30am for checkout. The room was comfortable, but the immediate snarky attitude and subsequent unprofessionalism was so off-putting it made me regret giving my business to this place."

Birchwood Cottages
"Clean and comfortable and at a good location. Outdoor area is super spacious with enough space to comfortably park two large cars. Ray was kind and helpful. A couple of issues has to be highlighted. It was advertised on a website that rhymes with cooking. The listing there said 2 bathrooms. However, neither bathroom has a sit down toilet. Of the two bathrooms, only one has a sink to brush your teeth and it doesn’t have a mirror above it. The mirror is behind and to the side. The property can house up to 8 guests in 3 comfortable bedrooms but there is only ONE sit down toilet in a separate room and really cold in winter. If you have to go at night, probably need to wear a jacket. Ray said that the website doesn’t allow him to accurately reflect the facilities. That’s really unfortunate and it could prove to be a real uncomfortable surprise if a large group turns up at this particular unit."
Anchorage Motel Apartments
"A fantastic motel, clean and tidy, with convenient parking. The receptionist was a young Chinese woman who provided very detailed maps for easy navigation around town and dining options. The rooms were fully equipped with kitchenware, allowing you to buy groceries at the town supermarket and make your own breakfast. A very good experience."
Marakura Deluxe Motel
"The rooms are quite big, the view from the living room and the master bedroom is nice, the sanitation is OK when I checked in, there are no big complaints, the facilities are not very new, and the decoration is the normal level of a motel. No one cleaned the room for two consecutive days, and no towels were replenished, which is a bit unacceptable. Except for check-in/out, I didn't see anyone, so there is no good service to comment. If you don't have high requirements for accommodation, you can choose it."
Bella Vista Motel Te Anau
"Very good, the front desk lady was very enthusiastic, helped me book a ticket to the glowworm cave, and told us where the Chinese food was, and there was a large supermarket for supplies"
Distinction Luxmore Hotel
"this hotel is very old"
Te Anau Lodge
"Very interesting house, we were arranged in a carriage, yes, a room converted from a train carriage, very unique. We arrived very late the night before and couldn't find the way to check in. The hotel manager also drove to guide us to check in after work. The next morning, he also prepared a very authentic and delicious homemade breakfast for us. This is the best room I have stayed in during this trip to New Zealand!"
Blue Ridge Studios and Bed & Breakfast
"This is a fantastic feel at home place to stay. The hosts Derek and Laura were friendly and very welcoming. The cabins are exceptionally well appointed. Everything is catered for in the cabin which has lounge, sleeping area, bathroom with a great shower and heated floor. Good choice of breakfast which is brought to your cabin at your selected time. Bed very comfortable with goose feather duvet. Outside is a very well maintained garden and hot tub. Each cabin has table and chairs outside as well as a table for all to share ( 3 cabins). Ample parking on site. Situated in the quiet suburbs of Te Anau 10 mins walk from the town which is flat and easy. We had a lovely quiet, relaxing time here thanks to the hosts and their family who have a fantastic set up here."
Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers
"Go to Milford Sound and stay in Te Anau for one night. The hotel is right on the lake. You can see the lake when you open the curtains in the room. Parking is very convenient."
The Cinema Suites
"We loved our stay in Cinema Suites--make that two different stays! The suite has plenty of room to sleep and hang out, with comfy couches, a nice dining table and efficient kitchen--it feels like you are staying at a friend's loft apartment, not a hotel. With a queen size bed in the main space and a second bedroom with twin beds, it is ideal for a family or friends traveling together. Bathrooms are very well appointed and we were greeted by a lovely bowl of fruit and a nice bottle of NZ wine. Our only tiny complaint was that the reading lamps near the bed weren't really strong enough to read by."
