My recent trip to Suzhou led me to stay at the Suzhou Marriott, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. The hotel is located in the heart of Gusu District's old city, making it incredibly convenient to get to Hanshan Temple and Shantang Street by taxi. I was pleasantly surprised to find that booking a room even came with complimentary tickets to Hanshan Temple! The lobby incorporates traditional Jiangnan design, and the charming Suzhou-style garden on the first floor is perfect for photos. The guest rooms are spacious and clean, with floor-to-ceiling windows on higher floors offering panoramic views of the ancient city. The bedding was soft, and the soundproofing was excellent. Lion, a staff member at the breakfast restaurant, was very enthusiastic, and the breakfast selection was incredibly rich, featuring authentic Suzhou red soup noodles and osmanthus pastries. Georgia and Allen at the front desk were gentle and considerate, while Katrina at the service center was quick to respond to requests. The heated pool and gym facilities were also well-equipped. With its five-star quality and excellent location, this hotel is perfect for both travelers and those looking for a short getaway. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Suzhou.

Hotel near Yangcheng Lake Resort/ HB World,Suzhou

As a mom from Shanghai, I wanted a quick weekend getaway with my toddler, so we drove 1.5 hours straight to the Marriott in Yangcheng Lake, Suzhou. I stumbled upon a lakeside hotel that's truly perfect for a relaxing stay with young children. The summer days were scorching hot outdoors, but come evening, the breeze off Yangcheng Lake was like natural air conditioning! The wind from the lake instantly dropped the temperature, making a stroll along the shore with lake views incredibly comfortable. Choosing a lake-view room was such a pleasant surprise! The balcony directly overlooks the entire Yangcheng Lake, offering expansive and therapeutic views. We watched the blue skies, white clouds, and the lake during the day, and then patiently awaited the sunset and evening glow. I just sat on the balcony, zoning out, while my child clung to the railing, watching the birds and the lake water – it was so peaceful and kept them entertained for hours. ✨ The family-friendly details were truly thoughtful. Upon check-in, we received a full set of children's amenities: a kids' toothbrush and baby slippers, so I didn't have to lug a bunch of stuff myself. The hotel even has a bubble pool party! 🫧

The hotel seemed understaffed, with employees clearly doing the work of two people. For example, when we got locked out of our room with the key card inside, it took 20 minutes for staff to resolve the issue. We also dined at the Chinese restaurant, and the servers were constantly rushing around because there just weren't enough of them. Dishes like the crayfish took over an hour to arrive. However, in the end, they refunded us for those dishes and packed us some noodles and red bean soup to go.

Taking advantage of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, I brought my parents to Zhangjiagang. We booked the Zhangjiagang Marriott Hotel this time. It's located in the heart of Zhangjiagang, making transportation very convenient. Right next to it are the Poly Grand Theatre and Wanda Plaza, so shopping and entertainment are easily accessible. It's also a short drive to several classic scenic spots. We booked an Executive King Room, which was on the 36th floor, the same floor as the executive lounge, so dining was super convenient. Upon entering the room, you find the spacious bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower area. A sliding door next to the bathtub can be closed to separate it from the bedroom – truly excellent attention to detail. In the center of the room was a king-sized bed, and by the window, there was a chaise lounge and a small desk. Lying on the chaise lounge, you could enjoy panoramic city views from the large floor-to-ceiling window. The executive room package included afternoon tea and dinner. The 'Happy Hour' from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM offered a rich variety of dishes and plenty of drinks. There were three pre-made cocktails daily, but I still preferred the Gin & Tonic. For breakfast, the shepherd's purse and pork wontons were incredibly fragrant and delicious – highly recommended. The service here is very warm and welcoming; staff always greeted us enthusiastically in the hallways. Usually, after dinner, we'd take a walk outside, and by the time we returned to the hotel, the turndown service had already been done, making us feel truly at home.
