Strahan Village
"Stayed on the “hill” Outside looks old but the room is very spacious, clean and comfortable."
Risby Cove Boutique Hotel
"WOW Factor - Overlooking Macquarie Harbour, Strahan, Tasmania; from our private verandah at Risby Cove is one of the most pristine places on earth. Enjoying our complimentary wine and cheeseboard, my husband and I agreed that our stay at Risby Cove Boutique Hotel was of those precious times in life when you allow yourself to indulge, surrender the rush, and settle into quiet respite. We arrived as weary, rain-drenched travelers, and surrendered ourselves into the care of our hosts, who made us feel special and valued. Our spacious, elegant room — complete with fireplace and a bath for two — felt a well deserved treat and deeply restorative, bringing us an immediate sense of calm after a number of days on the road. Even the food was amazing. The à la carte menu celebrates local seafood and paddock-to-plate produce, prepared with care and flair. I recommend the hot/cold seafood tower. Included in the price, is a scrumptious continental breakfast accompanied by excellent barista coffee — the perfect energising start to the day. The whole experience was a gentle reminder us to take the time to simply breathe and live in the moment. Thanks Sebastian and Jacinta – simply unforgettable experience."
BIG4 Strahan Holiday Retreat
"The location is good, the room is average, and overall good."
Regatta Point Tavern & Holiday Villas
"Absolutely thrilled with this quaint house in such tranquil surroundings. So much thought has gone into the outfitting of this property to ensure the comfort of the occupants for a very reasonable cost. Impressed with the laminated instructions for the operation of all the appliances. Also love all the obvious woman's touches throughout the house & the comfortable furnishings. Can thoroughly recommend this property."
Motel Strahan
"We stayed overnight and found this motel had everything we needed. The gentleman that checked me in was extremely pleasant and helpful. Such a lovely touch was turning on the air-conditioner for when we arrived. It is an older building but extremely clean and comfortable and most certainly value for money. Loved the king sized bed! So many little touches like a mini bar, hair dryer, iron and ironing board are much appreciated. I would most definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends."
Wheelhouse Apartments
"First and foremost, if you want an absolutely stunning view with your Strahan accommodation and the privacy of a self-contained ‘house’ environment, rather than a stock-standard hotel, choose to stay in one of the two Wheelhouse Apartments. We could only manage one night there as they were booked up for the other nights we were in Strahan (hence we DID have a sad stock-standard hotel room for the other two nights!) but really it is a place you probably want to spend at least a few nights, say a day or two when you might be planning ‘down days’ or rest days in your Tasmanian holiday, and when you are not racing off to Strahan’s various attractions. [That said, if you are going ‘into town’ it is an easy 10-odd minute walk.] This accommodation would be best enjoyed when you have adequate time just to sit and stare at the amazing view! We normally comment that it is annoying when so-called luxury self-contained accommodation does not have a dishwasher, but I must say that with such a view, you probably do want to stand there washing the dishes and just staring out the kitchen window! The location and the architecture ensure the view is always flooding into the house – even when you are lying on the bed. Note, however, there are no curtains upstairs so you will be woken early to ‘enjoy’ the view whether you want that or not!!! Shutters could be neatly added without ruining the aesthetic surely?? But the downside is the very evident wear and tear. Of course scratches do not detract from the functionality of a place, but almost EVERY surface is scratched or worn in some way and it really shows the age…walls, floorboards, cupboard doors…everything is quite well worn. If you had to go through the same regime as when hiring a car, checking for marks etc, you would spend hours recording all the flaws before you moved in! So it does need some TLC but the 4/5 rating very much reflects the absolutely beautiful setting and view and the fact that we would be fine about staying there again if the need arose."
