NetotrevinoWoah! This is one of the best ryokans we’ve been to. The staff was super attentive and could speak some English, the rooms were amazing (see the photos!). The onsen in the room was fantastic so there was no need for us to go to the public or private onsen downstairs.
The hotel is located 3 minutes away from the bus station and conveniently situated near everything. We’ve stayed at other ryokans but this one was top notch! We strongly recommend to stay at this place and will try to come back again with friends and family. Oh! The food was wow, too! We had breakfasts and dinners included and the sukiyaki dinner offered Yamagata A5 meat which was to die for. Breakfast was also great!

This ryokan-style hotel boasts a beautiful location on a snow-covered mountain, right next to a stunning ski resort. The accommodations are very convenient, featuring separate shower and toilet facilities within the room. There's also a private onsen available for a small fee, offering a wonderfully private outdoor bathing experience. The hotel provides excellent shuttle services to various destinations; you can easily request a ride to the Zao Ropeway to see the Snow Monsters, as well as to restaurants, the bus station, and more.

LC1807Although it is a traditional Japanese-style inn, there are art decorations and piano music playing for a long time, making it feel leisurely and comfortable. The food quality is better than expected, with western elements added, I am very satisfied.
The hotel has a shuttle bus service, but no relevant information was provided during the booking process. We walked to the hotel by ourselves, which took more than ten minutes. It was a bit embarrassing in the snow in winter.

It's conveniently located about 200m down the hill from the Zao Central Ropeway. There's a Lawson and a day-use bathing facility nearby. I went there for snowboarding, but there's also a drying room. The room was Japanese-style, and the only amenities were toothbrushes, but towels and bath towels were provided. After checking in, I looked around the room and found a few long hairs that looked like they belonged to a woman, but it was too much trouble, so I borrowed a vacuum cleaner and cleaned them up myself. There was also some small trash in the lobby hallway, so it seemed like they didn't clean it very often. The hot spring water wasn't particularly hot, but it was a strong acidic water that is typical of Zao Onsen, so it was good → the water was hot the next day. The area is what you'd call the center of Zao Onsen, but there aren't many restaurants, and people who are staying without meals will probably go to the convenience store to buy things, but there is no microwave in the building, so you should heat up your food at the convenience store before taking it home.

Guest UserWhat a gem of a place! The special thing about this place is that there are 5 private outdoor onsens as well as a gender-segregated public bath and one mixed gender outdoor bath (for this one, you need to wear a bathing suit). If you are shy of exposing yourself or like taking photos, then those 5 private outdoor onsens are just perfect. I went in the autumn, which is cooling already and I can imagine what a treat it will be in winter with all the snow.
The hotel is located almost to the top of the hill. Either drive or call them ahead and they will pick you up and drop you off in the vicinity.
My room is quaint and Japanese-styled. I didn't pay for the meal package as I knew I'd would be busy trying out all the onsens available. They are all open 24hrs. By the way, private onsen number 1 and 5 are the best and most picturesque!!!
I'm doing all a favor and posting all the pictures of the private onsens.

shawndaikiExcellent location short walk from Yamagata station.
A better location might be located on the east side of Yamagata station as there are more food and beverage and convenience stores available.
Dated property but cozy and functional. A man made onsen within the property doesn’t hurt. We also had a rental car and overnight parking was ¥600.
Complimentary breakfast however you must account for time and occupancy, we did not have time to enjoy it due to the lines.
Service was top notch. Hotel was helpful with directions and translation.
A senior lady went the extra mile to assist with contacting next hotel and even considered train timings as well as advising us to stay in Yamagata and not go early as there was nothing available in the next onsen town.

The room was very large and spacious for a family of three. The hotel was a bit dated, but very comfortable. The beds were not the best, not very supportive on the back and shoulders. Overall, it was a comfortable two night stay in a very nice and convenient area with a lot of restaurant choices within 500 meters.

The accommodation is about a 10-minute walk from the station, which is a bit more difficult when it snows. It seems that he provides parking lot, which is more suitable for people who drive.
There is also a large supermarket within a 10-minute walk nearby, which is very convenient.
The baths for men and women are separate, so you don't have to wait for a long time, which is very convenient! Very recommended
There is a free bar and snacks downstairs which is a good deal.

LeCobbA small, simple room that was perfectly adequate for one night, with all the necessary amenities (refrigerator, kettle, etc.). There was a massage chair in the room, as well as an old radio. The room was clean; however, I set the thermostat to 30 degrees Celsius, but the heating didn't seem to come on. I was able to easily visit Yama-dera Temple thanks to the proximity to the train station and leave my 20kg bag at reception after checkout.
