Best St. Paul's Bay Hotels

"Pebbles Resort has a lot of positives but also some areas for improvement. Location: The location is excellent. It’s situated near a bus stop where you can catch buses to almost every route in Malta. Buses are frequent and cost only €2 for a two-hour ride. The square is a short six-minute walk, offering plenty of food options. Beaches are just a quick bus ride away, and ferries are also easily accessible. Hotel Facilities: The hotel has two pools: an outdoor one and a warm indoor pool. The indoor pool is very comfortable, but the hot tub was disappointing—colder than the pool and with jets that only work for 30 seconds at a time, requiring constant button-pressing. The towels provided for pool use are old and could use an upgrade. The gym is small and often busy, so timing is key if you want to work out. Food: The food was surprisingly fresh and delicious. Unlike many hotel buffets, the staff at Pebbles Resort rotates trays frequently, ensuring the food is both fresh and appealing. However, the buffet and à la carte menus are separate, which was disappointing. I couldn’t try items like cheesecake or creamed chicken from the buffet during à la carte dining. Rooms: The room itself was nice, with some standout features like the television built into the mirror. The balcony was a good size, but my stay was marred by a neighbor plucking cigarette ashes over their balcony instead of using the ashtray provided. Additionally, the refrigerator never got cold, which was inconvenient as there are no ice buckets in the rooms, forcing me to go to the bar for ice. Service: Service left a lot to be desired. When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready. Despite being the only ones waiting, the staff couldn’t expedite the process, leaving my daughter to fall asleep on the lobby couch—a completely embarrassing experience. The hotel also lacks luggage carts and staff to assist with heavy luggage, which is especially frustrating when traveling with kids and a lot of bags. Conclusion: While Pebbles Resort offers a fantastic location, good food, and decent facilities, it falls short in service and attention to detail. Small improvements, like better towels, functional hot tubs, luggage assistance, and quicker room readiness, could elevate the experience significantly. Rating: 3.5/5"

"The neighborhood is super well located and dynamic, close to everything! The roof top, swimming pool and bar are great, but the view is a little spoiled by the buildings being built around. The staff is very welcoming and responds quickly to any request. Pay attention to breakfast times, if you are unfortunate enough to show up at 10:01 a.m., you will not be entitled to any coffee... The rooms are comfortable, equipped with a small individual terrace, very practical, but we did not have hot water pressure in the shower, which is a shame. The neighborhood is nice And we never had a problem parking for free around the hotel during our entire stay. I recommend !"

"The hotel is decorated in a nice style, clean. The walls are quite thin and unfortunately you can hear people from neighboring rooms. The hotel surroundings are not very interesting, but there are shops, restaurants, cafes, parking spaces on the street. Good location for a base. The service is very polite and helpful, the breakfasts are tasty and there is a large selection."

"Nice hotel, with a fancy lobby. Clean large room with ocean view. Excellent place to stay. The village is not very historic with scattered shops and restaurants. But overall a nice area. We recommend the Xemxija Hill Heritage Walk and Fort Campbell to explore non tourist stuff!"

"Absolutely incredible hospitality from the staff during our stay. We were greeted at check in with cookies and offered an extra! The room was lovely, clean, comfortable, and had everything you need to feel at home. We were on a Christmas couples' getaway but also had some work to do, and the wifi connection in the room and common areas were strong enough for us to take work calls. The breakfast buffet had an amazing spread, they did eggs in half a dozen different ways and had sweet and savoury, hot and continental, and even traditional Maltese options - among all our travels this year, this was the best hotel breakfast we experienced. The gym was visible to pedestrians outside the hotel so it felt a bit strange doing our workouts so visibly. The hotel had both an outdoor and indoor pool, which we used, as well as a steam room. The location is super convenient, there is a bus stop into Valletta right around the corner, a supermarket a street up, several good restaurants around and inside the hotel too, and it is not too far from Cafe Del Mar."

"We had a great stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had everything you’d need and was large and clean. The hotel roof pool was very nice. There was a free to use (though you pay a refundable deposit) parking garage under the hotel. St Paul’s Bay was a great place to base yourself to explore the island."

"We had a really nice stay at this hotel. The breakfast was delicious, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the indoor pool was a great perk. The atmosphere was pleasant, and many little details made the stay even better. There were only a few minor things that could be improved, but overall we were very satisfied. We would definitely come back!"
