L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa

So nice! Everything is all good! But only the heating is didn’t work ~

Let’s start off with the positives. The staff are excellent. We enjoyed the food, very much. The bay is beautiful. If you go out of the back of the hotel and turn right, a short walk along the promenade will take you to some shops and restaurants that are well worth a try. Go a little further and you will find the most interesting Fisherman's Chapel next to St Brelade's Parish Church. So, why only three stars from me? First off, our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking a scruffy flat roof with some dinner plates on it, ductwork and rotting windows, no balcony, no sea view. Being at the front of the hotel, it was noisy with traffic especially as there was bus stop was right outside our window. This resulted in us being woken up early, as the buses sat there with their noisy engines running for a couple of minutes, whilst passengers got on and off. We ended up having seven nights of poor sleep. We asked a number of times if we could move rooms, but were told nothing else was available. We asked the travel company if we could move hotels, but were told the same, even though we had found accommodation elsewhere. One lesson here for us is to never ever book a package holiday again. Had we booked the hotel ourselves, we would have just left and gone elsewhere. Still on the room, there were no power sockets by the bed for us to plug a USB cable or charger in to. This made it tricky to keep our phones charged. Like a lot of people, we often look at our phones and listen to an audio book last thing at night. We often check them during the night to know what time it is, and again first thing in the morning, so it was tricky not to be able to charge them next to the bed. Generally, the hotel is looking tired. In the main dining room, the curtains all look like they're coming down. The edgings of the steps between rooms are coming off. The whole place could do with a deep clean, some new carpets, a coat of paint, and so on. Whilst it's absolutely lovely on the back terrace overlooking the bay, there isn't that much space there. Certainly not for a hotel with over 100 rooms. Case in point is that there are only eight or so sunbeds on the terrace. Okay, you can get a free sunbed on the beach, but it'll the cost you £5 for a small umbrella. My final gripe is that whilst we were there, there was a business meeting being held in one of the rooms just off the lobby and overlooking the back terrace. For four days those not in the meeting, but part of the event, hogged the dining tables in the bar lounge where the windows overlook the bay, and stared at their laptop screens or yakked on their phones for the whole day. The hotel is huge so why not make them have their meeting and breakout area at the other end of the hotel in one of the empty unused rooms, rather than where other guest would have chosen to sit? I did note that after four days of meetings, the room that had been used, was returned to a dining room with the lovely bay view rathe

From the first moment you walk in this hotel you encounter an air of curtesy & a friendly professional manner . Thereafter it just gets better ! The bar & staff have a warm convivial air The Dining Rooms both on the Terrace & are comfortable, the choice and presentation of food is outstanding. Two of the evenings we were entertained by "the Brightside Duo" just a delight ! Small requests or anything at all was helpfully & attentively dealt with . All the team are outstanding & show genuine care for Guests' comfort but we do remember, Dan, Carina & Denisa being totally lovely ! Honestly we can't wait to go back -to walk on the perfect soft white sand , enjoy the beautiful sea view & savour the calm & peaceful oasis that this wonderful hotel serves up. An absolutely fantastic find .

This hotel has the friendliest staff that we have ever encountered on our travels. Nothing is too much trouble and they always have a smile and friendly word. Alina, who seemed to run the breakfast room, especially, though I could mention so many. The view from our balcony was stunning, looking straight out over the bay. The Terrace restaurant also has beautiful sea views, being along the back of the hotel. The Grill restaurant is a bit pricey, but lovely food in a tranquil atmosphere. A wonderful holiday all round.

Our second visit to this great hotel. Room comfortable, superb sea view, a bit warm as the air con was not very efficient but we felt the experience was like being in the Caribbean minus the long flight. Listening to the sea at night is unbeatable. Our room was over the terrace bar but we did not notice any undue noise. We ate in the terrace bar twice. The food was good and enough choice to suit us two picky eaters! One evening we had room service which we really enjoyed, our servers set up the balcony table with a white cloth, napkins and cutlery and we felt well pampered. Speaking of pampering, the spa pool is nice and I enjoyed having my nail polish done professionally for the very first time. During our stay there seemed to be some issues with the fire alarm but we found it a bit of a personal challenge to be first out. I’m sure this has been sorted. All in all, a great holiday, great weather, and all within a very short flight from home.
