Other than the perfect location, this hotel was a real let down. The front desk staff were great, and a lot of the people working for guest services were super. That about does it. Pictures online are probably 15 years old - so don't base anything on what you see! Old and shabby in our room at least. Positives: *great location! Walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see - but be aware that there is a TON of construction downtown at the time of this review (not the hotel's issue) *Lobby was clean and nice, and the front desk staff were helpful *snack shop was well stocked Some of our issues: *super expensive for what you get *poor signage as to where to go - we couldn't find signage for what floor the pool/workout was located *housekeeping came to our room and did a fine job cleaning, but left us no soap to wash our hands and left 4 people with one bath towel *there was a gap under the door that was probably about 2 inches *we had a handicapped accessible room, and there was NO counter included in the bathroom - everything had to sit on the small sink area or the floor - not exactly ideal *hot tub out of order *you pay for breakfast, and it was terrible *no clock? I know we all have phones these days, but a clock is still nice to have! *our room had a mini fridge, but we heard many other guests indicate they did not Overall, if you get a good deal on your room rate and want to be able to walk to the downtown historical sites, this isn't a bad hotel. Just don't let the name fool you as this is not really up to the expectation of the Hilton/Double Tree name. I would probably choose another location to stay if we were to come back to Springfield.

The hotel is going through refurbishment so depending where you are the hotel is either dated or more modern, our room was a good size, pretty clean, good size bathroom with a powerful shower. Springfield was very quiet no one around and no shops or restaurants open (that we could see). We found it eerie. The only place we could find open was an Irish bar….apart from the name nothing was Irish, we ate in the hotel bar, service was quick and friendly the food was okay. The hotel was okay asa transit hotel but for us we wouldn’t come back to Springfield (sorry)

Time has not been kind to this hotel. It just felt sticky. The globe tavern felt very sticky and when I enquired about a wine list I was just asked which wine I liked. The wine was not the best. The room just felt old tired and it gives the image of not being sparkly clean. Our bathroom door was broken at the bottom and the toilet seat was also damaged. Compared to other doubletrees I have stayed in, this was the least friendly at check in. It fell below expectations

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I enjoy staying at different properties across the Hilton portfolio. I had been to this particular hotel once before about 8 years ago and had enjoyed it then. But face it, this is an old building, and age has not been kind to it. The front desk informed me that top to bottom renovations are underway, which was evident by one of three elevators being out of service. Upon entering my room, I noticed that a metal piece of a corner near the door had fallen off the way and was on the floor on my way into the room. Thinking little of it, I put it back on the wall and continued into the room. I had arrived into Springfield after a very long train ride into Chicago, and another 3 hour ride from there to Springfield. Being 10:30 PM I just wanted to relax. Fast forward a couple hours when I was ready to go to sleep. Ready for bed, I first laid down on my side to continue watching something on TV. I felt a pinch on my side where my skin was contacting the mattress. I looked down and saw something very small and black. Suspecting bed bugs, now I examined the rest of the bed. I found more black spots under one of the pillows. Well that ruined my night! No way was I going to sleep in that bed. The front desk having earlier contacted me by SMS text, I texted back a photo of what was in my bed, asking if these were bed bugs, and even if not, what was this doing in the bed?? While the person at the desk was unable to come up, he sent a security person up to my room. He looked at it, and also not being an expert could not concur what this was, but it sure looked like it. The front desk did the right thing in moving me to another room. By now it was 2 AM, but I had to quickly pack everything and move to another room on the same floor. After inspecting that bed, I felt it was OK, and accepted the relocation. But in my mind, the experience down the hall prevented me from falling asleep right away, despite the fact that I really needed it. In the morning, upon check-out, I explained to the front desk that the reason I had 2 plastic keys for different rooms was because of the suspected bug situation. No apology there, but she thanked me for letting her know. Later in the day, after I had gotten back to Chicago, I got a call from a manager at the hotel. She apologized and said that she would have an exterminator come in and take care of the issue, as well as identify what that was. She would get back to me with the results. Meanwhile she was helpful in suggesting ways to mitigate the problem had any bugs gotten into my clothing or suitcase. Rest assured that the next night I did wash all my clothes and dried them on high heat. Meanwhile as I write this on Tuesday night, the incident having happened on Friday night and the call with the manager on Saturday , I have yet to hear more on this. Bottom line is whether whatever in the bed is diagnosed as bed bugs, mold, or anything else, this sh

Definitely dated, but has potential. The elevators are small and really slow (we did stay during a packed convention), and it could’ve been cleaner in our room, especially the bathroom. There were some random updates like a granite counter in the bathroom, but they could’ve spent the money on a new shower surround. And I say this only because I’m a painter, but the maintenance of repairs like caulking and painting was sloppy at best.

We found this hotel to be clean and the service commendable. Our room was comfortable, with good beds that could be improved with foam mattress toppers. The cooling unit was quiet and effective. Towels and supplies were plentiful. The pool was the perfect temperature, with good lighting and ventilation. Cosmetic repairs are needed, and the hot tub should be put back into operation. The staff was attentive, accommodating requests with alacrity. They asked us if we needed anything several times.
