This hotel should be better than it is due to what seems like a staff shortage. The beds and the room was fine but a minimum of staff was evident so service struggled. If the intention is to economise then they will not survive. I was instructed to leave the car in the adjacent carpark and was left to struggle with our luggage to the hotel where we loaded our own carriage to take to our room, all this in clear view of other staff. Where was the concierge. We had a drink at the quite busy bar and while waiting for service, we could clearly see that there was no concierge on duty. The carriage we used was left in the hall way until we checked out. Now, if you like Indian food you'll love this place. Trouble is if you don't, go elsewhere. I think a restaurant should be more flexible with their menu.

The Westin could be everything you’d want from a great city hotel in a brand new curated precinct with restaurants and bars, let down completely by the incompetence and complete apathy of the staff. The exception was the front desk, with quick friendly service but beyond that it was completely amateur and haphazard. The room service was spotty everyday, and on 2 days the room was not made up, every other day the room coffee cups, milk or spoons or coffee pods or sugar or milk was not replaced or towels not provided. You’d think service staff have a checklist, should be easy right!? The lobby cafe in the hotel called Haven was more like Hell, I had to dedicate a separate review for that as the service was non existent, appalling. Garum again has so much potential, alas the service is astonishingly haphazard, food not delivered, 30 minutes to bring my wine, served up after my meal. Frankly the staff have no idea, the poor manager made up for it, but he is terribly let down by his team, who don’t seem to miss an opportunity to disappoint. Wow so much potential absolutely wasted by something very fixable, if you can’t change the people then change the people! There was clearly a lack of middle management. The porters at the door were equally incompetent or inexperienced, I fumbled my way through the two large entrance doors, and after I made my way through, there was a feeble attempt by one if the porters that lifted his head up from his phone to assist with my hand luggage into my car, he seemed so pleased with himself that he was my knight in shining armour, hopeless. Come on Westin, prove me wrong, really I want this fantastic hotel to succeed in my neighbourhood, I want to recommend you to my colleagues and friends but fix your rubbish service!! Until then I can’t recommend you, I have a reputation to protect something you should care about as well.

I stayed at Intercontinental to celebrate a birthday. The hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine, which was very nice. The room was very small for the price paid, and considering the hotel is relatively new, it felt a little dated. We paid extra for club lounge access and wished we hadn't. It has to be one of the worse lounges I've ever visited. It was very dated and had no atmosphere, apart from feeling sterile. The food offerings were very poor. Evening canapes looked like they had been sat out for hours and were of poor quality. Breakfast was even less appetising. It was a combination of dry reheated food and cold food that had been sat out for too long, most of which was inedible. The lounge service was adequate but certainly nothing special and not five stars. On check out, I was asked how our stay had been and said it was adequate but nothing more. The checkout assistant just thanked me for staying. I responded to the hotel's generic email for feedback but received no reply, which begs the question of how much attention and consideration they give to guests' feedback. With so many hotels now available in Perth CBD, the Intercontinental needs to up its game to attract return guests.

Loved our one night staycay at ritz carlton. We arrived early and were able to check in early with no fuss. When I booked there were no rooms left with a king bed and river view so had to book 2 doubles but I requested it upon check in and they sorted it for us. The room was amazing, fantastic views, very spacious, clean and modern The pool area is great, we ordered lunch and cocktails that we had poolside in the sun Went back to our room and there was a bottle of bubbly in there with a note to someone else for their anniversary which was a little strange. We were there for my husbands birthday and there was no mention of that even though I made them aware so maybe they got their notes mixed up. We ate in hearth restaurant which was delicious, although service could have been quicker!! The songbird bar was lovely- will definitely return there Breakfast was amazing, so much choice. We couldn’t order items; it was buffet only which was disappointing initially but the quality of the buffet items made up for it. We were able to continue using the facilities after check out. Wish the sauna and hydro therapy pools were not gender segregated

The hotel is a renovation of the old building, and the famous team is the well-known kelly hill design team. The hotel has Chinese service staff, but the enthusiasm is not high, and the information is relatively cold and arrogant, huh, huh~ After making an appointment for afternoon tea, although the hotel decided to make a temporary decision, the hotel also considered that the hotel guests should also add it in time. In the evening, I tried a two-hat restaurant that is quite new and tastes good. In the room, the space is very high and the bathroom is large. Hotel facilities Because of the limitations involved, the pool and gym are small. Hotel breakfast is very good. The nature of the meal, the hotel has a valet parking service.

From the moment we arrived to the last second of our 2 night stay we were treated like royalty, the room was luxurious with well appointed amenities and soft luxurious bedding. The view is to die for looking out over perth city and the Swan River, and really is breathtaking of a night time. The hotel has a vast amount of thing to entertain you so realistically no need to leave, (and we didnt). Everything is within walking distance so it is very well situated. The pool area is divine with infinity pools and 2 jacuzzi's for those slightly cooler days. The bars and restaurants are excellent with a wide variety of food and drinks to satisfy every craving! Even if it is some dirty old mcdonalds haha. Overall this experience was a 6 star experience. Definitely one we will be doing again very soon in the future.

The hotel is in a great location with ocean views, close to the city, shops and restaurant. The staff is extraordinary friendly and helpful, however, the hotel could do with a bit of a face-lift, a bit worn and I wrongly assumed it would provide basic facilities such as a toothbrush. The restaurant staff was equally friendly and breakfast was great and ample, but dinner was a bit of a disaster, could not eat the pork belly, it was one greasy lump, very disappointing. The pool was fantastic, quite unusual and beautifully lit at night, 5 stars. I was shocked by the state of the gym that used to be efficiently equipped and clean in the past. The equipment is at least 20 years old now, rusty and noisy.

Staffs are friendly and hotel is at a good location. Room is well maintained, clean and comfortable. We had good 4 night of sleep! View from our room is fantastic. Breakfast was good too. GGuest UserWe stayed here for two nights after a 17 hour flight from London Heathrow to Perth after waiting more than one and half hours for our luggage we got a taxi to this hotel and the service was very good. We checked in and went to our room where there was tea and coffee available in the room. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable as were the pillow up to the standard of Holiday Inn around the world. We went down to Ivy and Jack's which is attached to the hotel. The food was very good but more like share platters and good for the occasional drink rather than a main meal. I believe this is where they service the breakfast if you have a breakfast package with the hotel. This hotel is right in the heart of the city so close to everything but not a lot of restaurants to eat at during the dinner service. Most hotels seem to only service lunches or late afternoon snacks.

GGuest UserI don’t think this hotel is in the best part of town but it is fairly central and easy to walk to some of the sights in the CBD and about 10 minutes walk from the station. However I wouldn’t walk around here at night on my own. I checked in quite late in the evening after a long flight from the UK. I had booked a small queen room and it was small. There was only a bedside table on one side of the bed, no wardrobe but two hooks with hangers on. There was a kettle, safe and fridge. The hotel website also mentioned a washing machine and tumble dryer for guests. What they did not tell me before I arrived was that there was building works going on in the hotel which started at 8 am. Not great when I was struggling with the UK / Australia time difference. It was quite noisy. The bed was really comfortable as there was a padded mattress topper. There was also air-con in the room which could be used to heat or cool the room. Although there was a mirror over the sink in the bathroom there was no mirror in the room with decent lighting to sort make up etc. out. There was a full length mirror near the door but not particularly well lit. The shower room was clean, with two large newish white towels provided. The water from the shower was hot, and decent pressure. It did leak a little under the door but not too much to become a problem. One of the issues with the room was noise control - I could clearly hear my neighbours raising and lowering the blind so there was definitely noise escape around the large windows. I was also woken during the night by one of the neighbours snoring loudly. And woken a few times each night by people returning to their rooms late. There is no restaurant for breakfast at the hotel but there are plenty of cafes locally. I chose this hotel because it was priced competitively but would not have chosen it otherwise

GGuest UserThe thought of staying in prison is usually nothing you would enjoy. Well, we did enjoy our stay at the YHA a lot. We slept in a cell and due to the fact it's a heritage building, they can't install ACs in there, so it was warm at night, with day temperatures of 45 degrees. The fan did not really cool the room down, yet it was fine. We knew what we booked and that it can be hot in February. There are plenty of bathrooms all over the hostel, so you always find a shower or a toilette. The kitchen is spacious and clean. Of course, there are dirty dishes, but let's be honest: most of the guests are adults and should be capable of cleaning their dishes and clean up their mess. It's not the job of the staff to do this. The YHA has a nice, big garden, a big community area (inside) and a community area outside. It was very quiet at night, perfect for anybody, who needs some sleep. The staff was always very friendly and helpful and made our stay even better. It's located right next to Fremantle Prison and less than a five minutes walk from Fremantle market.

GGuest UserStayed here for 3 nights, arriving after long flight from UK. No problem checking in, room in quiet location as requested. Some construction work going on at back of hotel, but nothing that disturbed me in the evening. Room was clean and had everything I needed for a short stay. Corridor and room carpets could do with replacing, but I guess that is a big expense after the last few years. Breakfast was more than adequate, with plenty of choice. The hot buffet was all fresh and frequently replenished. The young man in the restaurant (sorry I don't know your name), was very helpful and polite. Reception were helpful in booking a very early morning airport taxi for me, and on the morning of departure made certain that I safely got into my taxi. As a solo female traveller, it's the little details like that that mean so much. I would definitely return if i was visiting Perth again

HHappiness19881864545I have stayed at the hotel over the past 15 years and it has gradually become a little run down here and there but the worst change is the service, nobody has a smile or greets you as a guest, your just another inconvenience for them. I stayed in a ”Deluxe” King room last week and the Bathroom was dirty and the Shower over Bath is a disgrace (see photo). I don't think I'll be staying again until some marked improvements have been made.

GGuest UserLots of the reviews here, I believe, are reviewing Mercure on Hay (the newer, more upmarket hotel and possibly better of the two although I haven’t seen it), whereas lots of reviews in Mercure Perth on Hay are referring to Mercure on Irwin. I’ve compared the photos and the hotel details and official photos are definitely that way round. SO… this one, Mercure Perth (which is on Irwin St) is the bad one. It’s awful. It’s tired, badly fitted out, dingy and I hope never to stay here again. My room was down a corridor of *****ed (and stained) carpet that made me feel nauseous to look at. The room was ok, the bed comfortable, but more stained carpet, and lots of things didn’t work. Several light bulbs were broken, lots of curtain hooks missing, the room safe didn’t work, the bath had a rusty patch in it. The aircon was too cold for me and I followed the instructions to turn up the temperature but it didn’t warm up. Two phone calls and three hours later, someone attended my room, told me the air con wasn’t adjustable as it’s one temperature for the whole building so the instructions were incorrect. He turned it off (supposedly) and I then spent my stay with no aircon although the room was still cold and not stuffy and the control panel didn’t say ‘off’ so I think the whole thing was just BS and they couldn’t be bothered to deal with it or give me another room. Staff care factor of the attendant was zero, and of the front desk staff, close to zero. I got woken up in the early hours of the morning several times by skip bins being moved around in the laneway outside (very loud chains being dropped in the skip bins and noise reverberation). The next night the fridge started making such a loud noise in the middle of the night that I had to turn it off and use the spare towels to absorb the water as it defrosted. I’m just curious why Mercure keep this one running. Perhaps it’s set at a different price range but it’s not doing their brand any favours with two Mercure hotels so close together, especially with all the reviews mixed up.

PPHILLIP JAMESLocation: The Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth is about 20 min walk to the main malls in Perth- Hay Street and Murray Street Mall. However, there are multiple buses along Adelaide Terrace, (2 min walk to bus stop) connecting to the main tourist area. All buses in free in downtown area. In addition there is a RISE supermarket - a 5 mins walk from hotel, selling fresh fruit, pies and pastries. This is a large supermarket for this location & is open 24 hours. It also a 5 minute walk to the Swan river. Hotel: The lobby is not that appealing and often there is a musty spell. There are different deposits when you check in - that charge over $200 on Saturday but $100 when you check in during the week - pretty strange, obviously the weekend guests cause the most damage. However, on departure that will do a reverse transaction on your debit card, to get the deposit back in a more timely manner. There is no key card entry to the room, but physical keys for room. The room have a good desk and basic chair. There is no sofa. However, the best highlight is the bathroom. A full bath and a separate shower with nice floor to ceiling titling. The shower was great. However, there is an old TV that needs to be replaced. There is a microwave in the lobby, but not in the rooms. I requested a king bed, but got two single beds together. One bed has little support, but the other bed was fine. Overall, there are some goods rates for this hotel - so check the price to compare to other options.

A little bit trouble when doing the check-in though ( We arrived on Sunday afternoon which reception already closed, need to go to convenient store inside the hotel to take the room keys.)
