We were very disappointed with the room/broom cupboard - Room 7 having paid upfront - £259 for what we thought was going to be a lovely palatial spacious room with views of the stunning scenery, as advertised on their website.Iinstead we were allocated a broom cupboard looking out over the car park! The food was ok-ish not as good as expected given the 2 star AA rosette rating. Breakfast was average, my gluten-free bacon sandwich was dry - no butter - dry bread no effort to impress. We would not rush to go back.

I read the recent previous reviews after having just stayed at The Fell. I am in complete agreement with the previous recent reviewers who were critical of the dinner options saved at the hotel - pub food menu only - .e.g 'burger in a bun' typed on a sheet of paper - with two 'specials' - one the soup (starter) the second - salmon (main). I also observed seating was at round tables for 2 max (pushed adjacent if necessary- if more than 2 diners. Menu also misleading - two beef steak options - rib eye and some fancy named cut = rump steak, and a generous pork 'Tomohawk' under the title - 'steak' - but steak = beef not pork! Also, as described - no lift - so not for the unfit, and room decor was 'tired' - eg flaking off / mouldy shower seal.

We are a group of friends who live locally to the Fell Hotel. The food was very poor and no better than a pub chain. The service was good We were informed at 10.15 as we having coffee that we had to leave at 10.30 as they would be closing. Obviously the staff were on a mission to finish up Felt very rushed and not a relaxing end to the evening A shame, as living locally we would support regularly if the standard was improved .

Great location, stunning views and really friendly staff. The breakfast was superb and service quick and efficient. The rooms are good, comfortable and clean. The only thing we were a little disappointed by was the evening didning/menu. As with the other hotels in this group the evening menu was shown on the TV screen in the room. So we had a scroll through and made our choices. When we got down to the bar we were presented with a bit of paired back bar food type menu on a piece of paper which didn't match any of that. Fish 'n Chips, Burgers, Steak, Macaroni cheese etc. So there was no choice of the a la carte menu shown in the room. I can only guesss that this was a group wide menu that isn't offered at this hotel (..?) but we weren't made aware of that. All the diners were put into a conservatory rather than the restuarant (which was empty) This made it all feel a bit 'pub meal' rather than hotel dining and maybe it was just about convenience for the hotel rather than us. We probably wouldn't have booked in to eat there if we'd have known that. The food and eating experience just wasn't up to hotel standards/prices.

The location of this hotel takes some beating if you are a keen walker, there is an abundance of walks to suite all abilities, straight out of the door. When you return you will find a warm welcome from the friendly and efficient staff, comfortable rooms at reasonable prices, luxurious if you're happy to pay more. Quality toiletries are included, teas and a coffee machine with a selection of coffee pods. There is a good bar with draft beers and a well chosen wine list. Get to the dining room early and bag a table near the window. The views are magnificent and far reaching. The menu isn't large, but everything we ate on out 2 night stay was delicious, freshly propared and served pipping hot. Breakfast didn't disappoint, smoked salmon and eggs, eggs royal or benedict, or a hearty full English. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, cerials, pastries, breads, all top quality. The standard of decor, clendlyness, furnishings was all you could wish for. Highly recommend.

We recently had our wedding here, celebrating from Thursday through to our departure on Sunday. The layout allows for a seamless flow through the different stages of a wedding. The scenery provides a stunning backdrop, regardless of the weather. Above all, the staff are excellent, consistently going above and beyond to deliver a professional yet friendly service. We have stayed several times before the big day, and this has always been the case. I would like to thank all the departments for their excellent work during our wedding, including the behind-the-scenes staff members who ensure everything runs smoothly. Certainly worthy of note, Sam did a fantastic job managing the day. It is clear he is a great manager and team leader who works closely with his staff rather than from afar. His professionalism was noted by numerous guests who commented on his conduct throughout the day. I couldn’t be happier with the venue, their services and hospitality. We fully recommend eating, staying, and even getting married here! Kieron & Lucy
