It's decent for the money, i guess, since everything in Shirahama is pretty damn expensive, but overall a mixed experience.
My guess is that hotel is run by an elder couple. They're trying their best, but there's only so much they can do. Building is old and shows a lot of signs of wear, although, the bedding and toiletries are fine. The room was cleaned daily.
Photos are a bit deceiving because they don't show an elephant in the room - big metal door that isn't much soundproof.
Hotel is located at the edge of the city, but it's only a 15-20 minutes walk to the beach or 3-5 minute ride on a bus. But the famous Sandanbeki cave is near and there are many paths to the beautiful cliffs.
Also, you can smoke everywhere in hotel, so no non-smoking rooms.

This hotel is the worst experience I have had in all these years. To be honest, this is a Japanese hotel. The environment is clean, and the facilities are not new, but they are OK. But the front desk of the hotel is a Japanese man who is about 60-70 years old. I only stayed for one day. The check-out time of the hotel is written as 7-11. I suddenly had a multinational meeting at 10:40, and I was afraid that I couldn't finish it, so I asked my girlfriend (she can speak Japanese) to go downstairs to communicate with the front desk to see if I could delay the check-out for about ten minutes. Later I learned that the hotel front desk said no in a very bad attitude after knowing it. I then packed up and went downstairs to communicate with the front desk.
