I think it's best to avoid staying here if you're visiting Shirahama. It's a complete waste of Shirahama's beautiful attractions. It's not right on the beach like Shiraraso, nor does it have the scenic views of Uminoshu. I regretted it on my first day, not to mention the hillside walk to the hotel. It's absolutely unbearable, especially on a hot day; it's practically unbearable. There's not much to eat nearby, so you have to walk to the beach. You can't see the sunrise, but if you stay on a higher floor, you might be able to catch the sunset.

Japanese hotel service is always top-notch. Since many local tours in Japan require phone confirmation, and the people who answer the phone often only speak Japanese (especially in rural areas like this), the hotel had a man in his 40s who spoke a little Chinese (I think his last name was Yuzhou), and a beautiful woman who helped me book a rafting trip in Kumano.
From our hotel room, we could see the evening fireworks and walk to Shirabin Beach to play in the sand. Everything was just wonderful!!!
