Shangri-La Xianggeya Residence (Dukezong Ancient City Branch) Reviews

This accommodation has a great location, near the north gate of the old town with a Luckin Coffee shop. It's a 300-meter walk from the hotel to the pick-up point for transportation to various destinations. All staff members provide excellent service, exceeding expectations, and are available at all times. There is a luggage service for both check-in and check-out. The accommodation is comfortable, and the rooms have heated floors. In front of the hotel, there is a delicious shabu restaurant. To the right of the hotel, there is a food court with a variety of food options. There is a well-known coffee shop with good coffee near the hotel. The hotel is less than 100 meters from the area where traditional dancing, often seen on social media, takes place. The hotel is also close to Guishan Temple, just a few hundred meters away.

We stayed 4 nights here. The hotel is in the old town, we took meaning no cars are allowed. Luckily it was just a short distance from the South Gate. The host was pleasant and helpful. Overall the room was clean. The bathroom can be better with some cleaning up but was ok. My only complain is the place where the washing machine is and drying clothes area. You have to climb up steep stairs which was quite difficult for me.

Couldn't be happier to give this hotel 5 stars. Extremely friendly, helpful, comfortable and generous. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we had a very warm friendly smile and welcome every time we came in the door. 老板是本地人，热情友善，车接车送（三轮车）：-），把我们照顾得很好；酒店地点很好，基本处于古城繁华区的中心，而且很安静，一切都很好，下次再来还会选择这里。

The homestay owner fetched me at the ancient city entrance as cab can’t drives in, and also brought me out too when I checked out. The tiles in ancient city are super hard to walk on, not to mention with the luggage. The room is slightly old, but equipped with basic amenities. The only thing that I was very satisfied is the water heater which heats up very slow, I showered with cold water most of the time coz it took too long time. Services are good in general. Owner gave me a souvenir when checked out.

A great stat in a beautiful and spacious room with 2 queen beds. There is heater in shower room which is good as the room is quite cold even without aircond and fan. The host is friendly and helped us to take the big luggages from the main toad after contacted him via wechat. The location is superb, very near to the old town.

Traveled with elderly parent and the 3 of us were staying in the boutique family room tatami style. We were glad that the owner has assigned ground floor room so we do not need to climb any stairs. Room was spacious , cozy and comfortable with centrally controlled heater. Has hair dryer, clean rooms and most importantly comfy beds. There is a make shift curtain acting as a door to the bathroom with good ventilation fan. Place was quiet and not noisy even though we were very near the dance square in ancient town. We were welcomed with ginger tea and friendly host Danny has provided travel options and suggestion on what to do and where to go around Shangri la. We made friends with other stayers from Korea and Ganna as we bonded over drinks and snacks. They also ferried our luggage to the north gate after our checkout. Will definitely return to stay in here again when we return to Shangri la.

Had a very comfortable 2-night stay here! Great location just a 2min walk from the North Gate of Dukezong, no problems finding the place with map apps. It's also just a short walk to Guishan Park and the dance square, which was lively and fun to watch. The weather can get chilly at night, but the room was so cozy and warm, with heated wooden floors. The shower has a digital display that tells you the temperature of the water, which was useful. The owners are very welcoming and hospitable, and the ginger tea was so warming and delicious. Would definitely stay again~

I had an amazing stay at this homestay, the owner was especially friendly, personally greeting guests and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Recommended!

Service is excellent!! The location is right at the heart of the accident town, yet about 150m from the road. So if you have suitcases, you can request a day before to pick you up from the station and they will help carry suitcases. We've two heavy suitcases and they helped us all the way including when we have to do early check out. So 5 out of 5 for services! Thank you! The hotel is operated by the 3 brothers and we met 2 of the brothers, whom are all very friendly and helpful. Our room is huge, can definitely sleep 4 with no issue. I chose this room, because I wanted to try the Tibet style room which is a good experience. My only complain is the hot water. We did notice they turn off the hot water during the day. During one of the day we wanted to have an early shower but notice there was no hot water because they turn that off. Otherwise would have given high score for this.

Our stay was exceptional thanks to the incredibly helpful manager. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and address our needs promptly. The hotel itself was clean and well-maintained, but the outstanding service made all the difference. Highly recommend for a memorable and pleasant stay.

I loved my stay here! The room is very cosy and comfortable and it had everything I needed for my stay in Shangri-la. The three brothers who run the place are very warm and welcoming as well. There’s a craft beer place selling Shangri-la beer just further down called 3300. Do also check it out if you like craft beer! I would love to stay here again and would definitely recommend it to everyone.
