Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel on the Bund Reviews

First time taking family with small kid to Shanghai. We got upgraded to the high level and nice view of the bund. I was impressed to this hotel and service from the staffs. The location is One of the best which easy Access to Metro Station and Main attraction like yu Garden there were many local Restaurants Around The Hotel that open late. The Breakfast was brilliant.

Super well located, close to subway, the bund and many stores/places to eat. The staff was vwry helpfull, especially Ms Marry.

This hotel location is very strategic and staff very friendly, special thanks to frontdesk staff Yvonne to assist us to find 2 rooms in same floor as we come with friends and due to we booked 2 nights separately, she also helped us to combined it so that we do not need to change room again. She also teach us the direction how to walk to Yuyuan, thanks for the great service. There is another staff at level 1 who assisted us to order didi to go to 南京路步行街 but we forgot to ask for his name, thanks alot for your help too. You guys are awesome, keep it up!!!

Wonderful hotel very close to the beautiful and lively Yu Gardens old town and the metro. All in all a very comfortable room, good swimming pool for the kids and easy to get around. And don’t forget the wonderful city view from the bedrooom! We didn’t get breakfast with the room and went to Peet’s coffee each morning instead.

Good breakfast, great location near Yu Garden. Staff at front office is less helpful than staffs at restaurant.

Just after checking into our room we found it had a really strong smell to tobacco so we had to go to reception and we were changed to a different room. Unfortunately it was very late at night but manager was still attentive. After a few days you realize the hotel is old and most of it is smelly. They need to invest in restoring it. Restaurants are really bad despite having very kind staff. Location is convenient across the subway station but still not the most walkable area in Shanghai and 15min walk from the farthest points of The Bund. if you pay for a beautiful view be aware you can only enjoy it until 11pm. I wouldn’t repeat honestly.

We booked a big room with three beds for a group of 4. The room was really spacious, toilet was also clean and big with a bathtub and showering area. There was also a gym and swimming pool available. Subway train station is just opposite the hotel and Yu Garden is about 5 mins walk away. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay here again

I recommend this hotel without reservation, the location is perfect and the property well maintained. It is walking distance to major attractions like the Bund and Nanjing road, and right next door to Cheng Huang Temple. There are also a great selection of great restaurants close by. Special thanks to Yvonne at the front desk, her warm smile and enthusiasm made our stay especially enjoyable.

Overall the hotel is ok, providing a good location close to Yu Garden and the bund and right by the subway. Check-in took long and personnel did not speak English very well, overall all personell was unclear in their statements and not welcoming at all. Family friendly room was not prepared for a child (sofabed) as it showed on the picture, so the room was not in line with what was expected. Overall hotel is dated and needs modernization, especially the bathrooms. From pool you have a nice view. Receptionist actively asked at checkout for a 9 or 10 out of 10 evaluation if we receive a survey.
