Overall it is a solid 4.5 star hotel and experience. The location is unbeatable, with breath-taking beach and sea view just off the front desk, as well as our beach room. The beach room is highly recommended for someone into the ocean view. The facility and staff are great. The Mercado even sells medicine (we got Gasvicon) which my wife could use the day we were there. The only downside that makes it not a full 5 star is that the room, decoration, and furniture are a bit outdated.

Love the resort. I think this will be a yearly visit. Went with our baby (8 months). I cannot wait to go back when he is older to experience it differently.

Of all the amazing places we stayed in different parts of Portugal we sure had high hopes for this one. This was by far the most expensive and we opted for a villa because of the private pool and our multigenerational family stay that required a larger space. The villa we stayed in listed it had AC but it was only in the main living area. There was no AC in the bedrooms and I had to ask twice for a fan in order to sleep comfortably. We had no hot water for 3 of the 4 days. The key to secure the back door where anyone could walk up from the public beach didn’t work. Martinhal Sagres is very tailored to tourists. No Portuguese people here which may be great for some but to us it did not feel like Portugal especially with the prices and the tipping expectations. I tried to get something back given all the issues but the manager (Rui) said to leave a review of the issues so the owners fix them. I explained that they allow the private owners to rent to their clients so I was offered 50% off my invoice which consisted of 2 breakfasts and kids clubs for total reimbursement of $196. We ended up going off site or cooking our meals because prices are very inflated on the resort and food was good but not great. While the resort is clean, well-kept and the staff overall was kind and courteous, it was our most expensive stay in Portugal and likely would not return.

Tolles Haus mit Meerblick, ideal um runter zu kommen. Sauber, freundliches Personal. Massagen im Spa sind super. Das WIFI lässt wirklich zu wünschen übrig, das Gym ist etwas klein und nicht so gut ausgestattet. Die Restaurants sind gut, allerdings auch teuer, wenn man etwas später essen geht, kann man auch in Ruhe essen.

Viajámos em família - foram as primeiras férias com o nosso bebé pequeno. A nossa experiência foi boa, no entanto os preços praticados nos restaurantes são claramente para a realidade estrangeira, não adequado para Portugueses. Todos os pratos principais nos vários restaurantes custam perto de 30 euros por pessoa, o que no caso de uma estadia longa (como o nosso caso 1 semana), fica bastante dispendioso. Se não fosse esse o caso, talvez aproveitássemos melhor a estadia. Como Portugueses andámos a fazer contas durante as refeições, impedindo de desfrutar de por exemplo bebidas nos vários bares existentes, etc. O regime de meia-pensão também é muito caro - 42 euros por pessoa por dia e somente com direito a uma refeição. Infelizmente vai ser difícil voltar, é claramente um resort feito para estrangeiros.

We stayed for one week at the Martinhal in one of the ocean house (family of four, two adults and two preschool aged children. This resort is perfect for families with young children, they have creche/kids club, lots of play areas, pools, and the restaurants are set up to deal with the mess and chaos that comes with very young children. No-where felt cramped or overly busy. Whilst we were there we found the stay to be very friendly and always accommodating. There was a problem with the sockets in the master bedroom of the apartment not working, but after reporting after we had eaten breakfast, it was fixed by lunch. I would suggest making restaurant and kids club reservations well in advance, popular times can book up quickly. There is the option for takeaway for food though, and some bar/grill areas that don't need reservations. No-one went hungry, that much was certain! The babysitting service also worked great. If you are still on the fence about booking, but own a BabyZen/Stokke YOYO, I can reassure you, this is definitely the resort for you. They were everywhere!
