On the Point - Lake Rotorua

We stayed at On the Point for our honeymoon and could not have chosen a more perfect retreat. The property is a former private estate with stunning lake views, elegant suites, and little touches of heritage charm. Staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful, making us feel both cared for and given complete privacy. We also received gracious and considered recommendations on things to do from the very kind Czech woman who also did breakfast. Having dinner served in our suite overlooking Lake Rotorua was a highlight, as was waking up each morning to generous breakfasts and serene surroundings. The décor is more classic and traditional than modern, which added to the charm for us, but guests expecting sleek, contemporary design should know this is a heritage-style lodge. Overall, On the Point is romantic, intimate, and timeless — a wonderful choice for a special occasion in Rotorua.

What a spot! Gorgeous views looking over the lake - pretty even if there were clouds and rain. This is a luxury spot, for sure. Beautifully appointed room, grounds include donkeys, ponies, and sheep (and a tennis court), great breakfast and dinner. And excellent service (shout out to Ian and Nadia). You need a car to get here, but doesn't take that long from town. This is a peaceful, relaxing spot.

Amazing staff, lovely clean rooms in a beautiful quiet location. Really good food at the restaurant. Great facilities for kids.
