Spark by Hilton Rochester South

Awesome hotel. Candy and Paul were amazing. They both go out of their way for guests. Rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable. Very much worth it and I’ll definitely stay here again. I will be recommending to others that are traveling in the Rochester, MN area. Very easy to find and easy parking.

We have stayed here 2 times now when visiting family. It is a wonderful hotel with a great staff. They always greets us and make sure all our needs are met. The rooms are immaculate and clean, comfortable. We took the kids swimming in the pool too and it was great. Breakfast is offered and good. I will stay here every time I visit.

The hotel is going through a remodel, so I have a mixed review. What has been done is excellent. New beds are comfortable, and the space is clean and efficient. Staff was more than accommodating as I had a full day at Mayo Climic and needed an early check in. The bad: The shower fixture was old and coming apart from the tub. One of the local frequent patrons was causing a scene and the police were there with him. This will be a great place to stay once these issues are resolved. Overall, I would stay again.

The property is nice and clean. Very nice area and away from the highway far enough to not be bothered by heavy traffic noise. Nice and easy to get to the Mayo Clinic for all our appointments. Very friendly and welcoming staff. I would definitely stay there again and recommend as well

This was our second stay at this Microtel - significantly worse. Apparently new owners. The whole place is not as clean as it used to be. There is a shuttle to Mayo Clinic which they subscribe to and should have a current schedule - they did not have a schedule and said they could not get in touch with the company. Therefore, we were late for our appointments. Should not advertise a shuttle if they don't have info and can't guarantee the place is a shuttle stop. Breakfast was terrible. Coffee Machine was broken. Juice machine was broken. Waffle batter not mixed right – was too watery. No fruit. Only white bread for toast-no bagels or English muffins or even whole wheat bread. No individual safety packs of butter – just a stick from the grocery store in the paper wrapper tossed in a Tupperware container. First time here, the breakfast was awesome – even had fresh pancakes and fresh fruit! Last time there was even a popcorn machine in the lobby as a welcome aroma. We’ve stayed in a lot of Microtels – will NEVER stay at this one again!

Room was infested with bed bugs. Just horrible! Evening desk clerk Nancy was very kind, and immediately switched me to a new room. She then took all of my belongings and put all my clothes in a dryer for 30 minutes. Then she sprayed my suitcase and purse with a disinfectant. During the night I got worried that I might take bed bugs home with me so I asked overnight clerk if they had any recommendations or guidelines for guests to prevent this from happening. He couldn't have cared less. I asked him for some trash bags to put all of my belongings in, as I wasn't about to use my suitcase with all the crevices for bugs to hide. He begrudgingly gave me one trash bag. I went back to front desk in morning to ask day clerk to speak to the manager. She told me that they did not have a manager. She also had no advice about how to prevent taking bugs home. The overnight clerk was still there and made the comment that I probably brought those bed bugs with me anyway!!!! What a horrible thing to say. Can't believe they are that desperate to hire such an unprofessional employee. I also asked day clerk for a large trash bag and she told me they did not have any. I told her that I was given one last night and she rolled her eyes and gave me one. I contacted the company after returning home last month and have yet to hear anything back.
