"I would like to give 5 stars but I think 4 is fair. The staff are very friendly especially the bar staff (the female ones) to the left of the main event areas. Staff in restaurants were nice. I agree with previous reviews around if this is a 5 star hotel (on paper), a more welcoming greeting on arrival would be nice. We liked all the à la carte restaurants. We had a swim up room and have spent most of our time here. It has been an unnecessary battle to get the optics refilled which were almost empty on our arrival. 3 calls and 2 emails to reception isn’t acceptable. I do find it rather strange that so many people return here year after year. We have been on 5 holidays this year. This isn’t a bad hotel but I agree with previous reviews around too big, too impersonal. I much prefer smaller Greek hotels so this is a total extreme the other end of the spectrum. I personally find the swimming pool areas like something out of Benidorm (tv show). However as we tried to avoid that area if others like it then so be it. The deckchairs are way too close together but there are always some available. The sim up pool to the bar looks horrific to me. I dare not imagine how many people pee in there! The biggest issue here for me is the ‘canteen’. I work in a school and we better organise the kids in our canteen. It’s frankly chaotic and awful. I hate every night when we can’t get the other restaurants and have to face it. Even in the Italian and Asian it’s still a bit of a grab everything you can but nothing compares to the buffet. Having been to multiple AI resorts, the only one I’ve seen as bad as this was in Tunisia. They had to implement a sitting system and tbh I think you do here as well. It shouldn’t be a chaotic fight to get food that has cost so much money and supposedly 5 star. Or in the very least what I’ve seen in other hotels is a sign saying ‘these are the quieter times’. A bit of advice. I asked the staff but they didn’t seem to think it was ever calm! By the time you’ve joined the multiple queues and got a bit more food the first bits are Cold. This is not the staff issue it is management who are not seeing or dealing with the issues. I believe the staff here are some of the most loveliest staff I’ve seen in a holiday. They are extremely dedicated and work really hard. Make it easier for the main buffet staff by resolving the issues there somehow."

"We decided to visit this place because we had an amazing experience from two years ago. This year was a little different and we feel sorry. We wanted to repeat the experience, unfortunatelly this year hasn't fulfilled our expectations. (We missed cachupa, Ricardo's energy in dancing, ..etc). We really like the island, the place, but this year was a little dissappointing. "

"We are in the resort now. Celebrating my husbands 60th birthday. Our room is nice, spotless, cleaned to high standard every day. You can ask for tea making supplies if you want them in your room. We are furthest from reception and pool areas so nice and quiet and it’s a nice enough walk. Paths are swept every morning, underneath the sun loungers could do with sweeping daily too. There are plenty of sun loungers and no need to rush to put your towels out but some still do! Public areas and facilities are clean and tidy. The coffee machines in the dining area are a bit unreliable. There’s some chipped crockery and the plates are cold. Food is plentiful, lots of choice however as with all buffet style meals food is not as hot as we like. Drinks in the bar areas are very good, no complaints. Most of the staff are very pleasant and accommodating. One or two appear to be less so and some need to smarten up to create a good impression. 2 staff members we found sleeping on sofas in the reception during their night shift. This does not create a 5 star impression. UK visitors are definitely a tiny minority of the hotel but we feel our needs have been accommodated. We are enjoying our stay and this is our honest opinion."

Hotel Riu Karamboa - All Inclusive - Adults Only ★★★★★
"Went to the Karamboa for a week in July on a good deal. We usually stay next door at The Palace but wanted to try here. We always get a taxi from airport, 3 minutes away €10. Lovely massive hotel. Friendly check in. Did email prior to coming for a ground floor room which we were allocated. Even though ground floor, it was still down two lots of steps or long way round down the slope and through gardens. The porter did take our cases for us as with all guests. (Give tip they are worth it) It was in a perfect area just at the side of the main Restaurant and bars. The room was a good size, separate loo and shower. Two big beds, 2 sinks, big wardrobe and mini bar stocked with soft drinks, beer, water. Also optics on wall. Tea coffee, no milk, had a glass from the bars every day. I do take my own teabags. Fridge was refilled every other day. TV.. not much available for English guests. Please note there is no iron in the rooms, reception did lend us one for 2 hours. Nice outside area overlooking the lovely gardens and the sea. Room was cleaned every day. Sometimes forgot the shower mat so had to use a hand towel. The main restaurant was lovely, inside with aircon or lots of seats outside. Nice staff, some friendly than others. Food was plentiful and hot. One gripe that I have was when the Chefs were making omelettes, they added the ingredients (ham, mushrooms etc) using their hands!! No no, need to use utensils. Did put me off the omelettes which I normally like for breakfast. Ate some lunchtimes at the Las Dunas restaurant as it was near the Beach. Ok in there, not as nice as the Mogambo main restaurant. Bars are good, the Morabeza bar was good, nice staff especially Elizabeth. So friendly and professional but funny as well. Remembered our drinks after 2 days. Main reception and the bar areas can get very hot, no aircon in there, needs to be upgraded with it. We had a four hour plus flight delay coming home and it was so hot in there. We hit on the Friday neon 🥳. (One week neon next week white party) We have been twice before when we stayed at The Palace. It is such a wonderful night. All the staff work so hard and are so friendly. Mixing with the guests and chatting. Balloons, bubbles, great music and great atmosphere. Never too old to enjoy. Try it its fantastic. The beach is stunning. Loads of sunbeds at all times of day. Palm trees for shade. The sea is georgous. Have a 5 minute stroll to the huts there so friendly. The sellers on the beach that some reviews mention are no trouble. If you dont want to buy just say no thank you and they will move on. Only trying to earn a bit. Watch out for the donkey that strolls up and down! He must have smelt my bread in my bag for the sparrows and decided to rest his head on my shoulder....made me move quick! 🫏 Lots of pools, plenty sunbeds. Didn't take to the swim up bar. Very busy with folk that seemed to hog it all day, can't imagine what the water is like, yuk! The nightly ent"

"Have loved this hotel. Reading some of the negative reviews I really feel like we stayed in a different place. We had an amazing trip. We had a lovely room which was quiet looking out on to gardens. It was spotlessly clean and was kept so daily, with some amazing towel art. The staff from the welcome at reception to the gardeners was always happy, hard working and pleasant. There are some rude customers (no need to this) who speak down to the staff which is not needed but a Big shout out to carlene who made me smile daily at breakfast and lunch after I watched a customer be rude to her yet she kept her cool (not sure I would have). Drinks were fab, never too long a wait. Wide selection of food Including a good variety for us veggies ! Lovely meals in all three additional restaurants, and love that the steak house also accommodates for vegetarians. We mostly stayed by the middle pool or the beach. Daytime activities are good and I like that the staff don’t pester you. They walk past and say what’s on then leave you, this lets you really relax and not feel that you have to join in. Shout out for junior and precious who ran fab classes. Also don’t miss out on the waterpark even as an adult. Well worth a go on the drop slide! I have two slightly negative comments. One the sports bar smells funny ! And two, the evening entertainment isn’t the best but they try ! The live music is always good and the white party, well get there early is all I would say so you don’t miss out on the amazing live singer and entertainment. Amazing trip with a hotel I would definitely not hesitate to return to. The beach is beautiful 🤩 don’t miss out on this. We saw turtles yesterday right outside the hotel !"

"Showers were gross, tiles had gone yellow and didn’t look like they’d been cleaned properly in a while. The wifi is horrible, even where the wifi is strongest it doesn’t work very well. The entertainment is poor, a couple nights a week it’s a party where nobody really attends. The positive is that it’s a very short drive from the airport, about 2 minutes. However there isn’t much to do inside the resort but it also doesn’t feel very safe to leave. We went into town and the locals didn’t seem to like that we were there, I wouldn’t go into town as a woman alone ever. The resort was mainly people who didn’t speak english which isn’t a big issue for us but meant the staff were never really speaking in english so we didn’t really know what was going on. We didn’t really do much of the activities as we couldn’t understand what was happening so wouldn’t recommend if you only speak english. The staff are nice, apart from the ones in the resort shops who are quite rude. For what we paid, I think it was worth the money as we can’t expect much but we did pay £900pp at least so if I was going to go somewhere again with that budget it would definitely not be here."

"The hotel is predominantly Italian people, I was I think the only English person! However the staff are friendly and the location fabulous! A short walk to the fabulous beach (uphill on the way back) but not that strenuous. Rooms are basic but good they have everything you need and it was quiet. Pool area is lovely and clean. Nighttime entertainment is low key it’s a place to relax. Food is plentiful and of a good standard. Overall a pleasant stay."
