Mercure Hotels in Qingdao

I rarely complain about Huazhu Club hotels, but this Mercure is absolutely riddled with complaints. ---Objectively speaking, the facilities and location are good, the rooms have a pleasant orientation, and the ambiance is acceptable. --- However, the soft services were far from satisfactory: --- The air conditioner had two problems, and I had to call a repairman both times. The first time, there was a strange noise when the AC was off, and a blade-like noise on the third setting, which ”never got fixed.” The second time, it simply stopped cooling. The repairman didn't speak Mandarin, so I couldn't understand much. --- The cleaning lady left the room at 10:00 AM one day, leaving the sign on. When she returned at 5:00 PM, the room still hadn't been cleaned. It was very frustrating. Later, the cleaning lady said she was the only one on duty that day; the other person had been off. --- The air conditioner was extremely cold at night, and it hurt my neck. The design is completely unreasonable. --- The dressing mirror switch was always on, and I couldn't turn it off at night, so I had to block it with something.

It’s not a bad hotel, but like a lot of hotels in the Accor franchise in China, lots of room for improvement. Positives:- Fairly varied western offering for breakfast Staff could be very helpful at times Comfy beds and room amenities Great daily housekeeping Negatives: No English speaking staff at all or WeChat service Shower rain shower function didn’t work Hotel is surrounded and hemmed in by residential buildings so not enough natural light and the only view is other buildings directly opposite Cheap, dysfunctional coffee machine at breakfast Trip did not notify the hotel that my breakfast was included First conversation at check-in is “your passport” - could be more welcoming

The hotel is not far from Qingdao Station and the Zhanqiao scenic area, and is close to the Badaxia Square by the sea, which is very suitable for morning jogging or walking. The room facilities are modern, spacious and bright. The staff also upgraded our room so that we can see part of the sea view. The restaurant is on the top floor, and you can sit on the balcony to enjoy the sea view when the weather is good. The breakfast is a combination of Chinese and Western cuisine and is very exquisite. The staff were very active and enthusiastic in helping to solve the problems encountered during the stay. Overall very satisfied.
