The hotel does not look like the pictures. When I got yo my room, on the first night my room smelled of urine, as if person who was belied me peed and the hotel doesn’t clean it. It was unbearable, I had to ask reception to come and sort it out because I wasnt going to be able to sleep with that smell. The housekeeper came and she swiped the floor and it was much better. The toilet handle was broken despite the water flushing. The room smelled out humidity. Not very sure of they changed the sheets needles I got there or even after. The food was all artificial food, nothing organic. All drinks were from those sachets. Even the sprite tasted different :/ On NYE the food was much better, there were good choices, but still artificial. Overall, it wasn’t that bad, a lot of people seemed to be okay with it. I am very picky so I notice everything.

The service was great, and so was the entertainment. We all had great fun on our trip. There was a new show the whole week, they taught you dancing, and prepared mini games for you every day. The animators, such as Rosa, Angel, and Madeline were especially fun in my opinion. The barmen were also great and fun to talk to. I can’t complain about the room service, either. The cleaning ladies always did their job well. So, in overall, my experience with the whala hotel was great.

Hotel is good from my opinion. The location is really goon near the beach and hotel has own private beach with the bar. The room are older and the bathroom will be better. Ste stuff is great. Bar was OK but the plastic glass is for me really problem (bad quality). The food was specificly but the dominician food is not cup of my tea. The price and the quality is fair.

Toilets didn’t work. No running water in room a couple of times so couldn’t get a shower. Staff rude. No plates or cups in restaurant. Food not hot. Bars ran out of vodka, rum and whisky. Not enough pool towels. Same music everyday. Not enough seating area at bars. Sunbeds on beach are knackered.

Future travelers need to be fully aware of what is happening at this hotel. The extreme noise issue is not temporary, not occasional, and not an accident. It has been going on every single day for more than six months. I live directly next to this property, and the situation has become so severe that daily living has become extremely difficult. If the noise is unbearable even outside the hotel, I cannot imagine what paying guests are forced to experience inside their rooms. The hotel has allowed a full industrial workshop to operate inside the property. This is not minor maintenance — we are talking about continuous use of power tools, grinders, and metal-working machinery from early morning until late afternoon. This level of noise is far above what is considered acceptable in residential or tourist zones and represents a direct violation of local Dominican noise regulations and community standards. The impact is serious: • no possibility of rest or sleep, • constant stress and disturbance, • extremely loud mechanical noise throughout the property, • completely unsuitable conditions for families or anyone seeking a peaceful vacation. What is deeply concerning is the hotel’s response: management has taken absolutely no action, even after months of complaints from neighbors and guests. The workshop continues to operate as if guest comfort, safety, and legal compliance simply do not matter. This is not a situation that can be overlooked or excused. The environment is actively disruptive and, in my opinion, unsafe for any guest seeking a normal hotel experience. Until this illegal workshop is permanently removed from the hotel grounds, I cannot recommend this property to anyone — especially families, older travelers, or anyone expecting rest and basic respect for noise laws. There are many wonderful places to stay in the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, this hotel is not one of them right now.
