Il Barilotto

Al barilotto is a beautiful family run hotel. Myself and husband spent 4 nights here. Giovanni and family made our stay wonderful, from the warm welcome on arrival after a late flight to the beautiful breakfast it was amazing. The roof terrace views are breath-taking. Positano is beautiful & Giovanni kindly is very happy to drive you & pickup if required. There is a bus stop outside the hotel that can take you to Amalfi. Such an amazing stay, Thank you Giovanni & Family.

The staff (family run hotel) here is so amazing they make you feel so welcomed. When we got there we were brought up to view the terrace. And when we check in later the staff/ owner introduced every bit of the room to us and even said I love you to us haha. He’s so funny and a nice person. Amazing view and cozy bed. Not located in main town but have shuttle service at certain times (driven by the owner ) so if you aren’t traveli

Very nice family owned hotel, Giovani and his family were extremely nice

My wife and I recently stayed at Al Barilotto Del Nonno Hotel just outside of Positano. It was a great experience. It is a small, family-run boutique hotel with spacious rooms, comfortable beds, and beautiful views from large private balconies. But what really sets it apart was the wonderful personal service we received from people like Giovanni (1 of 5 family members), who has served at the hotel for over 50 years. He provided expert guidance and help regarding bus and ferry schedules, nearby restaurants, and best routes/use of time. Beyond that, he personally drove us to a nearby restaurant, and to Positano to make sure that we caught a boat on time. BTW, the breakfasts were delicious (the fresh-squeezed pear juice and winter melons were to die for), and the setting was great -- a beautiful 2nd floor garden-like patio overlooking the bay below. But again, it was Giovanni who made our stay so memorable. His wisdom, sense-of-humor, and pride in what he and his family have worked so hard to achieve, came through in several conversations on the breakfast patio and in the unique and beautiful lobby. If we return to Positano, we will definitely stay at "At Grandfather's Barrel" Hotel again, and renew our friendship with Giovanni!

My husband and I spent 15 days in Italy going from Rome to Sorento, to Capri to Positano . There is so much beauty in Italy it’s hard to pick a favorite . But the hospitality, food, and views of this amazing hotel put it at the top of our list. Giovanni (if he’s still there) will take you anywhere you want to go! Positano is difficult to navigate with its narrow winding streets up hills and its many, many, steps. He even took us to his personal favorite restaurant that is not on the “tourist” list. View was amazing and the food was incredible. The restaurant looks out over the ocean and our room had an ocean view! Thank you Giovanni and your family for making us feel so welcome! We loved our visit.
