I cannot recommend this place enough, whilst the room was quite compact & our bed was on the small side for two adults, it was suitable for the one night we stayed. It is perfect location for Poole harbour & all its amenities along the quayside. The host David is exemplary, incredibly friendly as well as both helpful & informative concerning the local area. The breakfast, as many have said, was incredible, not only extremely ample but excellent due to the care & presentation from David himself. I would definitely choose to stay here again should the opportunity ever arise to return.

My stay
Stayed here a few time and always found the owner friendly polite and helpful ,doesn't do evening meals but you just walk to the quay and it takes 3minutes and you have the restaurants pubs. The breakfasts are large you would not starve .

David is a very special host And a stay at The Merchant House is a rather special experience. You are a step away from the quayside and from restaurants etc

David was an excellent host and the veggie breakfast that he cooked to order could not be faulted. His homemade bread is delicious. Our room was cosy, but had everything we needed. Good powerful shower :) Great location for eating along the quayside. David's restaurant recommendations were spot on.

David the host is fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful location as straight on to Poole Quay. Breakfast was out of this world, such a great cook. The hotel itself has so much history, a very unusual building. A definite stay again place.

Merchant House - Poole
amazing cozy hotel room. super clean. great host. English breakfast was personnally cooked for us and over the top. walking distance to everything. parking was available, however, this was off season.

The artsy experience
Your smiley-model-looking-silky-voice-tall-guy-artistic-father-of-five-contract-builder David will make your stay comfy. Artsy home. Smooth stay. Great breakfast. Nice bed with large pillows x4. Good value for money 👍

This is a unique and characterful place to stay, close to Poole Quay. David is super friendly and helpful. He is a font of knowledge on the attractions in the area. Excellent and very filling breakfast in a lovely dining area and you get to meet Bentley too.
