Super cute lodge in the Pantanal. We loved the sprawling views from the bar and large pool area. Tons of hammocks on site for relaxing. Capybaras roamed the grounds in the evening/early morning, and caimans were in the ponds nearby. We saw three large anteaters (one was a baby on the back), guinea pigs, foxes, deer, potoo and many other birds in their open truck safari vehicle. The room was spacious and clean, and the buffet had tons of options.

The location is great for exploring the Pantanal on the safari tours the pousada offers. The guides are excellent at scouting out birds and other animals. However, it's a mass-tourism destination with little aesthetic appeal. Meals are buffet-style - a deficit or a benefit depending on your point of view. I prefer not to have food that's been picked over by other people.

I loved this hotel around every corner there is nature, nature, nature! The food was plentiful, delicious and varied. The rooms were clean, AC good and hot water worked well. Hammocks everywhere and a beautiful pool to enjoy. Although it is simple i would definitly return and stay longer

Beautiful, peaceful resort. Excellent food. Knowledgeable guides. Comfortable rooms. Lots of amazing wildlife, though we wish we could have seen jaguars or anteaters. But we did see capybaras, rheas, caimans, three kinds of monkeys, macaws, and lots of other birds. The wifi isn't great, but for a few days, you can live without high-speed wifi. I loved relaxing at the pool and walking around the grounds. And did I mention the excellent food? I loved the local cuisine and the variety of fruits, vegetables and amazing desserts.

The 8-day trip with Pantanal Jaguar Safaris took us from the Taiama Ecological Wilderness on the Paraguay River to Porto Jofre on the Cuiba River. Pousada Piuval was the inland stop where we were able to observe giant anteaters, crab eating foxes and an abundance of birds. I especially enjoyed a trail ride on horseback followed by a sunset dip in the pool while bats whizzed around my head eating all the insects. So cool!

The lowest quality rooms. Infested with mosquitoes. The big Dror to this lodge is supposed to be the giant and eaters, however, none were to be found. Upon speaking with other fellow travelers, and some of the guys, none have been seen in months. This was just another unfulfilled, overhyped come on by Southwild Eco tourism company.

This is a wonderful lodge with huge numbers of birds and animals to see on drives or walks. We saw Ocelot and ant-eaters and so many more. the rooms and facilities are good, with a lovely swimming pool. Really I should be giving 5 stars, but unlike any of the many similar nature lodges there was no coffee available before our early morning drive, nor any sign of the staff at that hour (6.30!)

We stayed three days / two nights at Pousada Piuval as part of our visit to Pantanal that we booked thru “Pantanal Safaris” tour operator. Piuval is an immense property of approx. 70’000 acres completely surrounded by nature located near Poconé, just a few km before the start of the “Transpantaneira” gravel road and approx. 100 km from Cuiabá. Virtually in the middle of nowhere, it is an authentic Noah's ark full of wild life. The lodge features a nice swimming pool, a luscious garden and an area where to relax on hammocks under mango trees and a pond where usually alligators and capybaras can be spot together. Our accommodation was located near the reception (nr. 8). Easy although clean and comfortable, with air conditioning and even a TV screen in case you really are missing one. All meals are served as buffet in the restaurant hall. We found the offer to be surprisingly large: with meat, fish, vegetables, salads buffet, rice, beans and several Brazilian specialties with even a vegetarian option twice a day. Staff were very kind and attentive. Too bad we had to leave after the second night!
