"A wonderful Spa hotel with super friendly, helpful and happy staff. The gym was great and I downloaded the Life Fitness App so I could log in and keep a note of the equipment and reps I used etc. The pool was lovely and I used the sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. The room (Queen) was so comfortable and spacious with so many drawers and lots of hangers in the wardrobe. Very large dressing table with mirror!! Bathroom was spacious as well. Food was very good indeed. We all enjoyed eating there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The 3 of us would highly recommend this hotel. We shall return and next time I will probably get a few treatments in the beauty salon."

"Within walking distance to City Center, Train Station and stage coach station. The rooms are clean, with basic toiletries and coffee/tea supplied and replished as needed. Plenty of hot water with good water pressure. The 2 Chairs provided was useful; there is hot water kettle. The counter is large enough for use as a work station desk and doubled as a table for takeway meals. The common areas are very well maintained. Very good value for price paid. The staff members are friendly and helpful. Thank you Lucia. The hotel is off a main street, so there is some noise level in street facing rooms, but not sufficent to dusburb me rest. Reception is always manned and access to rooms is via key card, adding an extra sense of safety."

Newark Hotel Peterborough ★★

"The Newark is a budget hotel about a mile from Peterborough city centre, so it may not be ideal for tourists (it's popular with forwarders, construction workers and such). But you can easily reach it by bus (lines 5, 5a) from the centre. The hotel was still being refurbished when I arrived, and my en-suite double was certainly modern and clean. The bathroom facilities I found to be excellent, except there was no rag for the towels to dry, and the bathroom door didn't have a cylinder (yet?). The shower was big (no curtain or door though), and the water pressure adequate (not a given in budget hotels). The bed was comfy, and there was enough storage for my clothes and stuff. A 32" flat-screen Tv was provided, with a remote. Free Wifi was available, too. I really wish they would have provided a toilet brush though! Early check-in went smoothly (direct email contact with the hotel was excellent), don't be put off by the gloomy-looking reception area. There's a very basically furnished garden to the back where you can hang out. The room service was a bit spotty, but I really didn't need it every day anyway. ;)"
