Had a lovely 2 night break at Peebles Hydro. We had a lovely spacious room with great views over the gardens and the town. All the staff were very friendly. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice.

Last weekend had the best time with my best friend at Peebles Hydro. She found us the most amazing deal. 1 night Gin School experience which included; Overnight stay Breakfast £30 each towards dinner Use of leisure facilities AND Most importantly 3 hours experience at the onsite gin distillery school. At this experience we were greeted by Mags our wonderful informative guide, a large Hydro 1881 gin and a perfect charcuterie board. We learned the history of gin, tasted 4 gins and then we were let loose to make our own 70cl bottle of gin. With more gins, snacks including Freddos on hand and plenty of guidance we had a wonderful experience. Now it was just 4 of us on this experience this time, not sure how it would feel if there was 20 which it could be. But this is something I would absolutely head back and do. So we left with our own cooked and labelled bottle of gin and the recipe saved so if we ever want to purchase it again we can. I really do recommend this experience to everyone. The rest of the hotel was great too. The food delicious. Cocktails and different bars lovely. And so much to do for young and old. I will be back!

Setting is amazing. The best view I have ever had from an absolutely lovely hotel room. The staff in all departments were excellent, they were polite, efficient and friendly (clearly, the training is very good). The food at breakfast and evening meal was excellent. The breakfast arrangement catered for all tastes and we both loved the smoked salmon starter and my steak was a treat. I used the swimming pool / sauna etc which was a very good standard and most relaxing.

We come from Essex to this hotel every year as a large family. It’s such a special place to us and we love coming back. It’s the most perfect place for families with little children as you really don’t need to leave the hotel. The hotel is showing signs of its age with some woobles and cracks. Our children love it more than a trip to Spain so they are certainly doing something spot on.

The views from the room we had were spectacular, the room in general was small and we struggled with the size of the bed side tables not being able to accommodate mobile phones, cups of tea etc. The hotel itself self is in need of a paint, when we drove up we were worried regarding the outside conditions regarding lack of paint on walls and the windows needing the same, however the inside was very clean and the staff friendly. Swimming pool was very busy with family’s and very loud, if I am being honest It is very outdated and way below any 5* or 4* spa facilities, changing facilities very basic, if you want to dry your swim are you need to exit the changing room to the exit door for this. The food we had was very good and priced accordingly. The staff again very friendly. Only complaint was the table is far too small to accommodate two people accordingly, with bottles of water, wine plus bread left very little space for dinner plates. Over all a solid old fashioned Scottish hotel with good food and good bed however definitely let down on the presentation outside and pool facilities.

A random pick for the last two nights of our honeymoon turned out to be exactly what was required. We loved the Hydro. We booked a double feature room. We had a great view over the town to the hills beyond. Windows on two sides. Very clean, very comfy and a decent shower! Everywhere we went there were smiling staff and the service in the bars and restaurants was great. There was a mix of hospitality pros and young kids starting out but they were obviously receiving good guidance. The Hydro had activities on offer like axe throwing, shooting, off-road electric bikes and more plus the gym, pool and spa. Plus a gin school. We’d sampled every type of accommodation during our Scottish trip and the Hydro rounded it off perfectly because everything worked!

Overall - very good. Views, staff and grounds are lovely. The breakfast restaurant was good but a few more gluten-free options would've helped.
