New Hotel République

The hotel was absolutely lovely. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet and charming. We purchased the breakfast option which met all of our needs with a good selection of fresh fruit, English style breakfast as well as European. There was one very crusty gentleman on the desk at night, who was unprofessional, (complaining about the new management, saying they were too cheap to put coffee in the room, and we couldn’t have an additional packet of instant, even though only one had been provided etc., ) bordering on rude, and this is the reason for my four star rating instead of five.  The day staff was exceptional – very helpful.  On the second day, the coffee was automatically provided lol – day one was just an oversight. 

The Hotel Gabriel is a very pretty well designed boutique hotel in a great location away from the usual touristy areas of Paris, just steps from the hip upper Marais, a short 30 minute walk to the Seine and public transportation abounding. The rooms are a tad small, like many Paris hotels, but the rooms are thoughfully designed maximizing space the best they can. The bathrooms are very functional and once again thoughfully designed. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was adequate with a nice assortment for the hotel guests.

The location of this hotel was perfect for us, close to the Place de la Republique. We had a top flor room that was not large, the bed was a dream. We slept really well and that is really important after a long day. The room was really small and offers not much space for bags. Though they even managed to squeeze in a small table chair that could just as have not been there as they were of no use. There was no shelf in the bathroom to put your kit. And nothing to hang the used towel on. But this seems to be a common fault amongst design hotels. The breakfast room was small, but offered eggs you boiled yourself (!), pancakes and freshly baked bread and croissants. Good coffee too. There was no coffee making facility in our room, but there was a Nespresso machine in the lobby area THAT WAS NOT COMPLEMENTARY and they charged us EUR 2.50 a cup!! This was a real disappointment for a hotel that has a room price tag of EUR 260 and upwards per night!

Very clean and well laid out hotel. Relaxed atmosphere and very friendly and helpful (and good English speaking) staff. The honesty bar was great in the evening before we headed out for dinner. Location is great, right next to the Place de la Republique Metro stop and a great starting point for walking to all areas of Paris. There's a bicycle rental stand almost right outside the hotel if you prefer goinbg around the city by bike. ´Standard rooms are quite small, but very cosy and chique. We opted for a "GOLD" room, which is well worth the extra money especially size wise - and we got a room on the 5th floor which meant a small private balcony. Only one -and very minor thing, is the lack of a small shelf on which to put your toiletries. You had to leave them in your toiletbag on the floor of the bathroom or on top of the towel-rack. But no doubt we will stay there again on our next visit to Paris - the neighbourhood is great.

I can have no complaints really about the hotel, it is small but very clean and with very helpful staff. It is located within five minutes walk of two metro's and the Marais which was once a bit squalid but is now a very buzzy place with lots of trendy shops and bars, a must see really. Back to the hotel, breakfast was okay, continental - croissants, tea/coffee, cereals. The rooms were very boutique with hidden atmospheric lighting which looks great, not so good when you need to shave though as the bathroom was really dark, the only other negative was the pillows, not comfortable at all, but that aside it was still worth staying and I would recommend it.

My mother and I stayed in this hotel for one night in Paris. The Hotel room was absolutely beautiful - very modern, clean and very comfortable. The only "issue" with the room was that the doors to the shower/bathroom were see-through. This would have been fine (and pretty cool) had it been my husband and I, but I was staying there with my mother. The bed was extremely comfortable and I loved the over-all modern look to the room. The service was great. The woman at the front desk spoke english very well and called a cab for us every time we needed one. She was also very helpful with any questions I had regarding the city. Check out was at 10:30 and we were not leaving the city until 3. We were able to leave our bags at the front desk and come back to them when we were ready to head to the train station, around 1. I'm not sure I can rate the walking distance from things as my mother and I took taxis everywhere we wanted to go. Overall I loved this hotel and if I ever go back to Paris, would definitely stay there again!
