Staying at Vibe Hostel was a mistake. We booked it because of its proximity to everything (its location in Paraty is the only good thing) but it is a dark place, with hardly any lighting or care in its facilities. It's old, it smells bad, everything gives off a musty smell (from the hostel entrance to the rooms) and it's really dirty. We chose a private room (something private, paying more for it, where we wouldn't share with anyone to have more rest and tranquility) and the bathroom was clogged from day 1. We told the reception and they didn't do anything, they simply said that by flushing the water From the shower the water from the toilet would already run, which was not true at all. We had to use the common bathroom, which was occupied most of the time by the number of people who had to share it. And, of course, almost always dirty and without toilet paper. On top of that, the ONLY outlet in our private room was not working. We stayed at Vibe Hostel for three days and no one was able to fix it, even though they told us they would change it, of course. The only thing one of the guys (with very nice blonde hair) did was put in an adapter so that at least the power could reach us and we could charge the phones, but no one else came to fix it. Oh and the wifi didn't work most of the time, of course. The bathroom in the room, in addition to being clogged, constantly gave off a pipe smell. The shower had hanging cables, the plastic curtain that separated the shower from the toilet was about a hundred years old (as shown by the amount of dirt stuck to it) and the room had damp in every corner, from the floor to the ceiling. It made us quite sick to know that we would have to sleep three nights with pillows full of moisture (photo attached) and dirty sheets that smelled really bad. We poured cologne all over the room and put palo santo and even with that we couldn't make it smell good. Carolina, the person responsible for the hostel, did absolutely nothing to fix it. He told us that yes, they would do something that same morning, but no. Furthermore, before even arriving at the hostel he wanted us to pay in advance and I told him no, that we would pay right there when we arrived, at check-in time. We got the feeling that all he wanted to do was sell boat excursions; He told us about three times, insisting that we go and of course we preferred to do it on our own, seeing the lack of seriousness and zero organization. The only friendly person in the hostel was Tamara, the Argentinian girl who works there; thanks for trying to solve it. They told us that the private rooms are cleaned, but in the three days that we stayed there we did not have a single day of cleaning or even a change of towels, which, by the way, were very old and used. Don't stay at Vibe Hostel, it's not worth it.
