"This hostel has an awesome vibe and the most friendly people working here. The breakfast each morning was amazing! The location is also perfect with a view over the river and a very short walking distance to the main street and colonial center. The only reason why I am not giving 5 stars is the cleanliness. I didn't feel like the bathrooms and beds were clean. Still would highly recommend"

"The Pousada Valochouto in Paraty immediately strikes you with its excellent location, ideal for visiting the historic center and getting around easily on foot without the need for public transportation. Another very positive aspect is the spacious and comfortable room size, significantly above average for this type of accommodation. Also noteworthy is the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, always friendly and ready to offer helpful advice, as well as the beautiful, well-maintained and sunny pool, perfect for relaxing during the hottest hours of the day. Among the less convincing aspects, breakfast is served only from 8 a.m. onwards, which is a bit late, especially for those with excursions or early departures. Furthermore, although the room has a window, it is not enclosed by glass but only by wooden paneling, a detail that makes the room quite noisy and can affect the quality of your sleep. Overall, a pleasant property for its location and hospitality, but with some areas for improvement."

"Laid back friendly and welcoming hotel on the beach. Very helpful staff. Rustic feel and quite basic rooms. Great breakfast. Walking distance into lovely Paraty town. Only issue was no room service despite requesting it and rather shabby pool area."

However, we did not expect to find the dining and pool areas full of school children on a residential trip. I think this could have been pointed out to us in advance as it made lounging by the pool anything but relaxing."

"It was the most horrible experience I've ever had at a guesthouse, with no electricity, the circuit breaker turned off and the guest turning on the circuit breaker because there was no one responsible to fix it. IF YOU ARE DIABETIC, DO NOT STAY THERE BECAUSE YOU WILL LOSE YOUR INSULIN. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC, DO NOT STAY THERE BECAUSE IT IS VERY HEAT AND YOU OPEN THE ROOM DOOR TO COOL DOWN AND THE CAT IN THE HOTEL WILL SLEEP IN YOUR BED. IF YOU ARE ELDERLY, STAY AWAY BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY ASSISTANCE. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN, RUN AWAY BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO HEAT A BOTTLE. AND TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE, THERE IS NO WAY TO HEAT A LITTLE WATER TO BATH THE CHILD. IT WAS TERRIBLE TO STAY AT THIS INN"

"Basic, uncomfortable hotel with no internet despite what is advertised. To forget and flee. There are much better places nearby! We had the misfortune of booking with booking and not visiting the room before paying the balance due. It was a bad move for us, we cancelled immediately but it was impossible to get a refund even for the minimum determined by the hotel's general conditions! Never again"
