Awful, avoid. Gutted I booked this hotel. If your staying in Paignton just don't book here. Check the reviews on this hotel for yourself. The team there doesn't care so why should you spend your money staying there cheap or not. Pay a bit more and stay somewhere a lot better.

Do not know where to start. If you are staying in Paignton DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. I'll try make this as simple as I can. Good points: Location Bad points: No cold water (you will not be able to have a shower) (apparently there's a pressure issue in the area however it's a lie as we have family in other hotels/bnb's in this area all ok. Had to contact the third party who we booked with just to try get a bit of compo back as attempted on a number of occasions to get it resolved however just gets brushed over. Would not be staying here again. Misleading room conditions and sizes. They show in there photos like it's the Ritz when in reality it's box room and facilities are to a minimum. No plugs by the side of beds or by the kettle. Room cleaning each day. Jeez! If only... Comes to the room leaves dirty towel left on the shower floor and chucks the new towels on the bed without actually storing them in the bathroom ready for the next usage. (Not that we need them as the shower has no pressure at all) Overall it's run down, outdated and clueless on looking after the people staying there. This hotel won't be here in the next few years if it continues on and will no doubt get shut down. Real shame as location is fantastic.

An ideally located hotel on the sea front. Convenient for beach and town. Friendly and welcoming staff - especially Zoe. Comfortable rooms that tick the boxes.

The staff I.e Zoe was fantastic unhappy with first room and was changed to another.the hotel is lovely staff helpful an friendly it's a shame owners don't invest a little more to maintain it although we appreciate it's age water pressure with showers lacking but we would stay again.

We stayed at the Esplanade Hotel for two nights. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was warm and welcoming and very helpful. We had a lovely sea view room which was spacious with a good size bathroom. The room was very clean and had a comfortable bed, great TV and stocked with tea and coffee. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast was most enjoyable offering cereals, yogurt, toast, cooked breakfast and hot/cold drinks. Thank you to the staff at the hotel for their wonderful service which made for an enjoyable stay.

So I'll start with the better part of the review. Situated in perfect location. Staff are very welcoming and approachable. The beds are comfortable and the building has so much potential. Sea view rooms and decorated well and are spacious along with the bathroom. It was a very quiet and peaceful hotel. The negatives.. the hallways could definitely do with a freshen up, paint and carpets. Also there is a lingering smell of mustyness. Also smelt stale and that was also really strong in the first room we stayed in which brings me to the false advertisement on their website. All rooms that are advertised are just those that I sea view not the ones at the back of the building that are absolutely tiny only 2 plug sockets in the room. The bathroom was tiny you couldn't move in the shower and really smelt old and musty. The staff were more than happy to upgrade us 3 of charge. The room was extremely hot which I get isn't the staffs fault but maybe the hotel could add air conditioning. No hand towels in any of the bathrooms old style room and new style room. Extremely dusty in rooms. It seem that none of the surfaces go dusted. Also throughout the building all glass within the doors in hallways needed cleaning. Hand prints all over them. The downstairs area was a nice looking area and again has great potential but tables were smeary. We didn't get to eat in the hotel so can't comment on that. All in all we had an enjoyable stay

I was there on a Shearings coach solo 5 day holiday. We are told the hotel is undergoing a refurb it is still not finished. My small single room was clean as was the public areas. The beds are comfortable as are the pillows and all the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed 3 nights. 1st night we had an entertainer that sang and played guitar, he was OK. 2nd Night we The breakfasts are really good choice of cereals, orange juice etc., and hot cooked breakfast good coffee Thats all the good stuff. The showers and baths are small and although the water was really hot it was too complicated a function to wash my hair. The evening meal was chosen at breakfast time, dinners were poor .We were so disappointed in general with the Esplanade and also disappointed with Shearings coaches for the choice of hotel. Stick to 4 star in future

Whilst this hotel is in a great location, our stay wasn't great. Although the room was clean and the beds comfortable, the rest of the room meant we wouldn't stay again. The bathroom was tiny. The shower was so small and the water pressure so low, it meant we couldn't have a proper shower or wash our hair. Also, the curtains didn't fit the windows, so we were awake when the sun came up before 5am. We didn't have high expectations given the price, however we expected to be able sleep until a reasonable time and have a decent shower.
