Travelodge Paignton Seafront

"Have stayed at thexTravelodge Paignton a few times over the years. And have always found it an ideal location, just a couple minutes to the sea front, pier and beach. It is only a ten to fifteen minute walk from the train station and very close to great bars and restaurants. The staff in reception are always warm and helpful and greet you with a smile. The rooms are clean and tidy and fit for purpose, but this being a budget Hotel, dont expect a massive big screen tv and safes that you would find in more higher end hotels. The same with the bathrooms and shower. Plenty of white fluffy towels are provided, as well as shower body soap and hand soap. They are good and functional for the Price point. The beds are comfortable and the bedding clean and white. I had no problem having a good nights sleep, with just a little noise from guests going to and from their rooms. However there one issue which I will get to later in this review. The room was spacious enough with tea and coffee facilities provided. All inclusive breakfast was very good and plenty of choice (top tip, go to breakfast around eight in the morning before it gets very busy). I travelled by train, but parking is very limited and can cause issues with some guests. All the staff were helpful and kind and a credit to the company. I paid for wifi during my stay, but the wifi was very slow and made using it difficult). (I suppose I am just so used to my superfast internet at home). But now the Elephant in the room which I mentioned earlier. The rooms are so very hot. I mean really hot. Yes it was during a heatwave, but I have stayed at other times and have had the same issue. The windows in the room only open a few inches (health and safety issue) and their is no air-conditioning in the rooms. The reception,bar and corridors do have ac. To be fare. The staff do warn you about the rooms being very warm and a small fan is provided. It is not the staffs fault and a corporate issue. But I have been staying at this Hotel over some years and would have thought that theyb would have put ac in the rooms by now. The hot rooms are the reason I have not given this Hotel five stars. But ifvyou can put up with the very warm rooms, all other aspects of the Hotel are great and I always have a good stay."
