Best Onomichi Hotels

"Completely exceeded my expectations! This hotel is top-notch, probably the best in the area. I checked in on a weekend and was upgraded to a sea-view room, with two beds no less! The room was spacious, and the decor seems to have been renovated in the last two years – it's both stylish and comfortable. The only downside was that the windows couldn't open, making it a bit stuffy, and there was a constant sour smell in the room, possibly from a mildew spray."

"I'd seen Cyclist in a magazine years ago, and my trip to Hiroshima made it a must-see. Arriving in Onomichi, I discovered that U2, the most iconic building in the area, is a complex of hotels, restaurants, shops, and a cycling club. Even with its industrial style, the details are impeccable. The room layout was very practical, the bathroom had a bathtub and was spacious, and all the toiletries were from Osaji, with a very soothing lavender scent. The only drawback was the lack of body lotion. Given Osaji's high-quality amenities, and considering Japan's dry climate, body lotion is essential in a space without a humidifier. The hotel offers bicycle rental by reservation, but if you don't have a reservation, you can rent from the adjacent Giant shop, which has a wide selection of models. The hotel has a cafe and bakery right next to each other, so you can buy bread and then grab a coffee. The harbor view is amazing, but unfortunately, the weather wasn't great due to the rainy season."

"We stayed for just one night and were extremely satisfied! It's only about a 10-minute walk from the station, and there's a supermarket nearby, so we felt safe no matter what we needed. Furthermore, the building and the room itself had a very stylish, fashionable, and reassuring design, making it very comfortable. Thank you! The bed in the photo is a little messy because we put our luggage there. 💦🙇‍♀️"

"We have had a great stay at Onomichi Royal hotel. The hotel has clearly just been renovated - everything is super new and in a great state. We've had both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel, which has been delicious. We used the hotel as the start and end point of our 2-day Shimanami Kaido cycling tour. It being only a 15-minute walk from the train station, the location was very practical for us. They were kind enough to store our luggage during our cycling tour. We were really impressed with the hospitality and quality of our stay."

"Good location, less than 1km from Onomichi Station. For those arriving by Shinkansen, the hotel is about 4km from Shin-Onomichi Station. Excellent Japanese breakfast. Only downside: the bed is a bit small."

"The owner was a very friendly couple, and it was a space that made me smile naturally. The facilities were very beautiful and it was a hostel that I wanted to come again. The pork burger for breakfast was also delicious! It seems that overseas people often stay. It's a bit of a walk from the station, but there are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby, and there is a public bath, so I think it's the best without complaint."

"It is very close to Qianguang Temple, and it takes a little time to walk from jr station. The hot spring is relatively simple, just a soup. There is a sink in the room, no toilet, the toilet is in the corridor, a little inconvenient. Overall it's pretty good."

"Great location for anyone planning on biking the shiminami-kaido. Room was larger than I expected, two washer/drier available on the top floor. A small basement ”garage” with bike hanging racks where I was able to store my e-bike overnight. Some of the staff are completely fluent in English which was a nice surprise. The only real issue was the AC unit's main power LED is very large and extremely bright white, much brighter than having a night light and being ceiling mounted illuminated the entire room."

"This is a traditional hotel with a large public bath. If you prefer a private bathroom, this is not recommended. The cleanliness and service are excellent, and they will assist with carrying your luggage to your room. The location is remote, so adding a noodle vending machine is recommended. This hotel is a great choice for those driving."
