"The hotel is very near the train station and I could see the trains from my room. As long as the windows are closed it is quiet. Caveat emptor if you need to leave the windows open. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, front desk staff seemed to be stretched thinly because as I came and went from the hotel nobody was present at the front desk on more than one occasion. The hotel hosts small meetings/conferences and my hunch is they are handling these in addition to hotel guests. The included breakfast was good, but the hot food (eggs, bacon, sausage) was lukewarm both mornings (and I ate at different times). The breakfast staff varied. One morning a staff noticed I was logged in as gluten free and provided me GF bread. The other morning the staff never noticed. Yes, I could have asked for it, but it was a noticeable difference in staff. And the lesser staff cleared my plate and water when I went for more coffee so I had to get a new plate of food— clearly this staff member was not observant to details. The room was clean but basic. The bed was a platform bed and low to the floor. The mattress was ok for 2 nights, but would not have been for a week. The shower enclosure setup was not optimal— again, ok for a couple of nights."

"The location is good, the rooms are clean. But, there is no air conditioning in the rooms, the check-out time is 10:00, and if you want to check out later you have to pay 20 fr for each extra hour. The lady at the reception was slow when making the check-out."

"Restaurant review (& Claudio = top staff ＞ please keep & honor!) We've been meeting with friends (from all over German-speaking Switzerland) in the center of Olten/Aarau for several years now and have "tried out" various bars/restaurants! The Astoria was and is one of the best! The value for money is right, and the service is excellent! Especially Claudio!! He's a top-notch server and the main reason (besides the good food) why I'm even writing a review! He's very attentive (even when it's busy) and seems extremely motivated and customer-oriented... great service, not something you take for granted these days! We'll be back because of Claudio and the good food! (Great selection of salads, pasta, tartar, wine, etc.)"

"Friendly welcome at the hotel, a nice room - the stay seemed to be very pleasant. But then: TV reception of all (!) German-language channels was impossible. I was told to come back the next day. When I pointed out that I had only booked one night, I was told that the repair (?) would not be so easy. That was it. - I'm used to service differently! What a pity! "Otherwise" the hotel makes a good impression. The excellent breakfast the next morning at least made up for it a little."

"Many thanks to the team at the Hotel Astoria for their outstanding hospitality. We were passing through and needed a spontaneous overnight stay. But the Hotel Astoria is more than just that. We had dinner in the hotel's own restaurant, "bamboo," that evening. The service was top-notch, yet very friendly and humorous. The food was also excellent! I highly recommend the "Brasserie" entrecôte! To round off the evening and recover from the long drive, we went to the rooftop bar "Sisième" for a nightcap. The bar menu is extensive, and you're literally spoiled for choice. The service is very friendly and fits the bar perfectly. Compliments! The overnight stay itself was very pleasant and relaxing. The beds are soft and the pillows fluffy. The room is equipped with everything you need for a short stay. We would be happy to come back and highly recommend the hotel! Best regards, K. Meier"
