Oyster Inn Connel

The apartment was spotless and well-organized. Breakfast was served and it was absolutely delicious.

I can't tell you about my stay as I booked the wrong dates. As soon as I found out, I phoned The Oyster Inn to cancel but because I used Trip.com, they said there was nothing they could do. I cancelled on Trip.com and the message said that they'd contacted the hotel to confirm if it was ok to cancel FOC. According to trip.com, no response was forthcoming so my booking was not cancelled. My booking has since been "completed". When I contacted the hotel the following day to ask why they had not approved the cancellation, they said trip.com had simply asked for info, not to approve cancellation. Who is lying? Suffice to say, I will not use trip.com again and have decided to stay elsewhere in Oban.

Staff were absolutely lovely, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the sea and the entrance to Loch Etive. Our room was double height with floor to ceiling windows/patio doors and a balcony where you could sit to enjoy the view. Room wasn't huge but had everything we needed. Lovely bathroom with a very powerful shower. All decor fresh & new. Breakfast is buffet for cereals/fruit/fruit juice but the hot breakfast is served and was really lovely. Worth booking your breakfast at the time of booking as it works out cheaper than purchasing on the day. Dinner was also delicious.

Visited the area the weekend of Storm Amy, as our intended hotel had no power for 72 hours we had to find somewhere else and were recommended the Oyster Inn and what a great choice. 15 mins north of Oban, on the main road, lots of free parking, super view over the sea/river, stayed in a king/sea view room, looked very new, room was large, warm with a comfortable bed, shower over the bath, tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast served in the bar, wide choice of hot and cold food and it was all excellent. All this for £99 per night! We also ate in the bar (not the restaurant which looks awful, stuck at the back of the hotel with no windows) both nights, good choice on the menu and we ate Cullen skink, pie, salmon and Balmoral chicken which we all well presented, very tasty and large portions, also very reasonably priced. The only negative was the proximity of the main road to the front of the hotel and car noise did wake us about 6 both mornings. We also walked across the road to look at the water and saw seals and lots of birds. It is a super hotel for both staying and eating in and we will revisit. BUT please note that the hotel does not look like the above picture as the restaurant has been knocked down and turned into the king/sea view rooms.

Absolutely hidden gem in Connel. Staff were so attentive and welcoming from start till finish. Our room was stunning with a balcony and great views . The dinner was lovely. I had the gammon steak and the hubby has the steak pie. We had a few drinks in the bar with good music playing in the background (ta ). Quiet at night for sleeping and got our full Scottish in the morning. Would definitely recommend and will be returning . Thanks guys for the warm welcome and keep up the good work

Just stayed here last night and had a really enjoyable stay. The welcome at check in was extremely friendly from the guy with the Northern Irish accent, who I think was the manager as was really on the ball. The accommodation feels like it has been recently refurbished so all feels clean and new. The shower was very powerful and everything in our room ticked all the boxes. Given what we'd paid and the quality breakfast we received then I'd have to say the overall value for money was excellent. We had a really good quality evening meal. Mussels to share that were so nice and fresh. We both had a pan fried fish main that came really well presented and was such qood quality on a culinary level The Oyster bar craft beer was very nice too. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and this continued at breakfast were nothing was a problem as I asked for decaff coffee.... and then another, which came in a cafetiere and was exceptional quality, but the waitress was so accommodating and friendly. The veggie, pesci options are really good on the menu and even better on the plate...... big thank you to all the hard working staff for making our stay so good, shall definitely be back. The location is perfect as is right on the loch with fantastic views, see pics. Would definitely return and pay extra for on of the rooms facing the loch with a balcony, would be so worth the extra payment, and pre book a table in the bar area for evening meal.
