Arbour Guest House

Please ignore the negative reviews about Arbour Guest house Oban. We found it to be excellent value for money. Our check in was easy and with a friendly reception. As most guest houses I have stayed in since the 60's it has a shared bathroom, not en suite or it would be a hotel. Our room was more than adequate on the first floor which was clean as was the bathroom. Perfect location for everything you need. We travelled from France, but if we was ever in Oban in the future we will stay again. One I would change are the curtains, they did let the morning sunshine in. So not a lot to complain about really.

Never Again cleanliness not good, window sills, skirtings not cleaned in some time, carpeting dirty looking not been washed in some time either, window frames and net curtains mouldy, make do hardboard wall panel on wall not even painted, no towels in room unable to wash, due to shared toilet on our level with other room, unable to use as other guest vomiting all over floors and in corridor outside our room, trapped in our room all night, shower batroom was on the first floor were other guest shared but when trying that room always someone in. nobody on site just a phone number to contact, nobody answered left message, nobody rang back had to ring them back when they on duty 3-5pm complained about towels and bed, as old cheap metal framed bed, creaking and rikerty when you moved on it, asked to change rooms told they full on no other room left, not a welcoming land lady at all AVOID ROOM 8 AT ALL COST!!!!

Hotel review Not as advertised

Unfortunately, our Room no. 4 was very noisy due to the Wind (Windows not thight, roof tiles ratteling). Toilet door could only hardly be locked. Neighbouring rooms could have been listened.

Arbour Guesthouse is a simple place but it's clean and it's a good value (considering that accomodations in Oban are a bit pricy). We regretted though that the "double bed" was only 120 cm and not properly advertised as sub-standard. It would be nice as well to have good curtains (blackout and down to the floor) as up north the sun rises very early in summer.
