For a long weekend getaway that was cozy and easy from NYC, The Vanderbilt was a great winter pick for an anniversary weekend. Upgrading to a suite was ideal, because it allowed time spent relaxing in the room to be more comfortable. Weather can be iffy on the island during this time of year, but the hotel is located conveniently to all the best dining and provides umbrellas to help weather the elements. Wish we had brought bathing suits to enjoy the indoor pool on rainy days. Also, I wish there had been a fire in the fireplace, just to add a touch of coziness, even though the setting and scent were very appealing without. The decorations were fun, the grounds were lively, and Newport has a lot to offer during this time.

The staff were very chill, friendly, effusively helpful millenials. And every request was possible and executed with impressive lightening speed. Shout out to Morgan who looked after our every need, from setting up car tours to booking and changing dinner reservations upon request. Our stay at the mansion felt very comfortable, and overall we felt very attended to. The property is decievingly huge with corridors and rooms to discover everywhere. The only small negative is that the walls of our suite were not soundproof so one could hear guests outside our room in the halls and common area. But this did not disturb too often. In the end, really, everything was perfect!

For our 25th anniversary we chose Newport, RI for a getaway. As first time visitors, we researched options and chose the Vanderbilt because it seemed central in location and the fact there were onsite spa services and good bar. This first choice was fortunate because we then met Morgan, the lead concierge. I booked the hotel and then immediately emailed re:spa services. Morgan called within 5 minutes of my email to book our appts and then proactively offered other services, ideas, and resources. She worked with me over email and phone, booking restaurants, an onsite cocktail class with Zach (who is truly amazing as a teachers and cocktail scientist/artist) and getaway spa treatments with Randi (who really knows her stuff and cares) and team. The stay was great! From check in where we were treated with our itinerary packet and resources to surprise amenities celebrating our anniversary through to check out, it was above expectations. Every staff member was truly friendly and the style of this historical mansion hotel was striking and welcoming. Location was perfect - we walked everywhere and didn’t need our car really. Highly recommend! When we visit Newport on the future we will stay here again and will check out other Augerge collection properties in other locations in the future. I wish I encountered service and hospitality like this every time. Thank you Vanderbilt crew!

Third time at this Beautiful Property. The staff gives you the most personal experience. All of the amenities are in the building and you can walk right downtown. My 10 yr old always feels welcomed and it is his favorite hotel in the US. Especially with their indoor/outdoor pool and walking distance to Ryan's Arcade and Kilwins.

The Vanderbilt is stunning, especially decorated for Christmas. Both the public rooms and the guest rooms are gorgeous, cozy and comfortable. Some rooms have fabulous bathtubs, and they all have great coffee/tea/bar setups and fun libraries. Morgan the concierge is wonderful - hard working, fun, and extremely knowledgeable. We were there between Christmas and New Years so this issue might not apply to other times, but there were so many parties and weddings that it became a huge inconvenience. We couldn’t really use the public rooms, and were always being directed to back stairways, and basically told to get out of the way. The hotel has a nice gym, but the cable machine - the only piece of weight equipment- was broken our entire stay. The many fireplaces were never lit, and only one of the outside lanterns ever worked. Small details, but when you’re paying over $900/room, everything needs to be in working condition. The bedroom windows had a weird blackout film covering them that was quite unsightly and there were a few maintenance issues, but nothing drastic and the staff is extremely attentive. We loved the hotel, and will hopefully return when everything is in order and we can workout in the gym then sip cocktails by the (lit) fireplace.

10 out of 10 experience. Hotel, atmosphere, room, decor, concierge, spa services, food and even the valet - all amazing. Decorated for the holidays made it extra special and fireplaces made it very cozy. A memorable place and a memorable stay. We had a wonderful time.

NYE was $270 pp plus a tip of $70 “added for our convenience.” The food was only described as passed horderves and stations. The only passed horderves I was offered was a stack of cold triangles shaped grilled cheese sandwiches. I did see one tray of caviar come from the kitchen, but I couldn’t chase it down. The rest of the food was a buffet. My husband scored a small lobster roll and brussel sprouts. I was expecting some shrimp, raw bar or carving stations at the least. There was plenty of domestic “champagne”, live band and characture artist along with beads and hats and places to sit. The explanation given was that their booking agent Tock booked 150 guests instead of the expected 100-120 guest limit. I will be spending my money elsewhere next year where I get some nice food for my money!
