Rizk Pyramids View Hotel

Service Quality: High praise for staff friendliness, responsiveness, and helpfulness, with mentions of "hospitable staff," "friendly employees who always smile," and "thoughtful service."

Arrived at the hotel, were charged a $20 taxi fare despite it saying "Free Airport Transfer" on the listing. Just having arrived in a foreign country and being hit with this, we didn't have any other option but to agree to it. We were happy to tip the driver, but not happy paying the hotel staff for something that was listed as free. The following morning (New Year's Eve), we decided to visit the Pyramids of Giza, we had a brilliant time walking around the Giza Plateau until the evening where we went for some food in a nearby restaurant. While we were dining, we had 3 phone calls from the Rizk Pyramids View. The first two times they were asking when we were coming back, mentioning a party they had planned on the rooftop (directly above our room). We had already spoken about going to the Jazz Club in the city, so didn't have any plans to spend our New Year celebration in the hotel. On the third call, my wife answered and asked why we were receiving persistent calls. They then claimed a tour guide was waiting for us in reception, despite us not having booked any tour. This felt suspicious, but when we returned to the hotel, they told us the tour guide was actually looking for "another Richard" at a different hotel. This seemed very odd and gave the impression of a potential scam, or at the very least, an attempt to get us back to the hotel. After this unsettling experience, and as we had now done many unnecessary trips, we were not feeling up to going out again we decided to skip our planned night out at the Jazz Club to see the New Year in, and returned to our room to rest. Unfortunately, this was when things went from bad to worse. Next thing, there was a thunderous bass sound resonating through the room, playing ******** Rap music at full volume through a large sound rig, which was making us both nauseous, At first I thought it was just a sound check and that it would quieten down after a few moments. It did not get any quieter, in fact it continued to increase in volume, the room was acting like a subsonic bass chamber. So we went upstairs for a cup of tea to see what was going on and hopefully speak to someone about the noise, the manager joined us, but it was impossible to have a conversation over the deafening sound, so we finished our drinks and swiftly went back to our room. The nauseating bass continued throughout the night, to the point I was physically sick several times with dreadful bass-heavy ******** Rap thundering through the room relentlessly. We felt trapped in this awful situation, with unacceptable noise levels, and apparent scams at every angle, we decided to leave the hotel ASAP, we couldn't get anywhere else until the morning, so we had to endure the noise until the early hours. The manager refused to refund us for the room or the taxi fare (as we had agreed to pay it, despite having no other option).
