I typically don’t write reviews, but I felt I needed to after my experience — especially since one of the reasons I booked this room was because of all the glowing reviews. I don’t want someone else to go through what I did. Our room had many bugs, including a giant spider and many bees. I’m highly allergic to bees, so this was a serious safety concern. We reached out to the owners and even knocked on the office door, but it took an hour and a half to get a response. When they finally replied, they said they couldn’t find any bugs in our room — despite the fact that we had photo evidence. What was most disappointing is that they refused to offer any type of reimbursement. The hosts had been so kind initially, which made their lack of cooperation, especially after such a clear hazard, all the more surprising. Do not stay here. There are many other wonderful options in Monteverde!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying with our 3 boys in these rustic cabins in the cloud forest. Our stay in this family run lodge was one of the highlights of our trip to CR. Breakfast was awesome too! There was plenty of communal space around the lodge and lots of wild life to see. We hope to visit again soon.

My husband and I had a lovely time staying here! The treehouse style lodges are very private and quiet. Best of all, the couple who runs the green tree lodge were phenomenal hosts! They were so helpful with everything we asked for, and the breakfast they made was delicious. We felt that this stay was an incredible deal for how great it was.

The people that run this place are the best, sweet and friendly. They were authentic and kind and provide free breakfast in the morning! The lodges are small and comfortable, situated in the woods with the sounds of the forest. The wind can be gusty but it a nice ambiance. Highly recommend staying with them.

Do it! A perfect unique experience in wonderful cabins literally located in the middle of a small forest, but very close to the town. We went with family including many small kids, and they loved being able to roam in nature around the commons area (which is not in the forest), which you can freely use. Owners have their hearts invested in this, and will help with everything from booking tours to taxis to laundry. This is a gem.

The cabin was wonderful and in the middle of a lot of trees. Its like a private tree house. Elizabeth & her husband were good and helpful. They let us know more about Costa Rica's schools & life. They served a very delicious breakfast. The grounds are good for hiking on our own. We saw many birds and a snake. Elizabeth did the laundry for us. Thank you! Do not forget to look at the interesting ficus tree near cabin 3 (we stayed there). A very different and peaceful experience compare to other hotels. If you are looking for a B & B in Monteverde, I highly recommend it!

Wonderful experience. Really felt like we were in the jungle. Alexander and Elizabeth are great hosts and their story so interesting! The property has been in Elizabeth’ family for generations. It has been a sugar cane farm, a cattle ranch, and over the years has been subdivided to the next generation. Alexander and Elizabeth have chosen to keep theirs as a B&B and are doing a great job! By the way, breakfast is delicious! A bit rough road for about 1.5 kilometers but we didn’t have any problems driving in with a low clearance sedan. Santa Elena is a great town and the Monteverde preserve outstanding. Highly recommended!!!
