Very nice hotel in beautiful well rendered gardens leading down to the river. Substantial vegetable garden too that supplies the table with excellent fresh produce. Dining options were very tasty indeed. I would especially recommend Chef Peter's superb fresh garden vegetable curries. The buffet offers decent international offers too, but skip these (aside from grilled river fish if it's on - excellent) in favour of the local dish offers. Good coconut roti for breakfast to! Well done Chef Peter! 😃

We spent two wonderful nights at Kalu’s, wish it could have been more. We were treated like friends, the manager Susantha and his team were first class, nothing too much trouble. We, my partner and I were treated to a head massage on arrival, very relaxing. I had a full body massage which was wonderful. The food was first class a lot of it from the garden. We very much look forward to when we can return for a longer visit.

Fantastic hotel with the nicest manager you could meet. We were treated like royalty the moment we arrived. All the staff were kind, helpful and genuine. The chef, Peter, was exceptional., His cuisine was top class and should be experienced. The spa / resident masseurs were the best we’ve experienced. Thank you one and all 👏👏👏🙏🏏 P&N Rigby - UK

A peaceful hotel in lovely gardens. The food is great - the chef is really passionate about the fresh produce grown by them, and the curries they cooked were amazing. Rooms were comfortable and Infiniti pool is lovely. Staff are eager to please but are young generally and lack a little experience.

Beautiful boutique hotel. Owned by an ex Sri Lankan test cricketer. Arrival reception was something else. Both given a head massage..... I think only 14 rooms so service felt very personal and location very secluded. Would not have missed the experience

Beautiful hotel. We stayed in 6 different hotels during our trip to Sri Lanka, and although we stayed in more expensive and higher rated hotels, this was one of our favourites. It feels like a small boutique hotel. As with all of Sri Lanka, the staff are professional, polite and accommodating. It was lovely to be somewhere small and peaceful.

Super stay at the Kalu Hideaway. Stunningly scenic hotel with a lovely elephant/cricketing theme. We had a wonderful visit to the Elephant Transit Home to see the baby and young orphaned elephants. The hotel made a really special effort for our daughter’s birthday with a cake made by chef Peter Peters and his waiter, Sandaruwan. Chef Peter has his own herb garden so all the curries have fresh ingredients. Great location to stay for the Udawalawe National Park and ETH. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed staying for one night at this hotel, a lovely pool and surrounded by fruit & vegetable gardens. Our room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the gardens, everything we needed was there. The food is exceptionally good, all cooked to order. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. It would have been ideal if we could have stayed a bit longer.
